A truly original band that has managed to blend the sounds of Metal with Latin Rock. I'm talking about Ill Nino... a band that once included a member from our country J. The musicality this band offers is truly original... few bands manage to come close to their way of composing music.
Before discussing the CD, it's better to highlight the characteristics of this quite unusual band. Ill Nino is a Metal band that stands out from most groups due to the diverse origins of its members (primarily Peru and Brazil), and also because they use totally original and unique rhythms within the genre. They are greatly influenced by Latin music, with a strong use of tambourines, very catchy rhythms, and powerful riffs that immediately penetrate the brain.
This is the second official album (third considering the self-titled EP from 2000) for the Brazilian Ill Nino who, after some line-up changes, return with the same energy and power they had accustomed us to with the debut "Revolution/Revolucion". The new guitarist Ahrue Luster comes directly from the Machine Head house and, with his potential, can only bring new life to the band's creativity.
An album that starts to express its anger right from the beginning. Great alternation of power/melody... more prevalent here than in the group's previous work. The single from the CD "How Can I Live" is also featured in the soundtrack of the movie "Freddy vs. Jason". The same song is also present on the CD in a Spanish version. This song completely synthesizes the content of the new work of the group with great rhythm and melodic/angry singing. Another song worth mentioning is "Cleansing" with a wall of percussion that directly enters the brain! Then there's "This Time For Real" one of the most melodic songs on the album... this song is composed of various Spanish elements, which can be heard around two and a half minutes, great tambourine sound and methodicity that only this band manages to create.
The songs on the CD are each "connected" to the other. There's a connection present throughout the album. All tracks are characterized by Latin influences... some less and some more, the result: in my opinion, a really complete album with very few flaws (bearing in mind that perfect CDs do not exist)... even if many consider it quite commercial compared to the previous one... but it is by no means an inferior CD to "Revolution Revolucion" and "One Nation Underground" (the CD that will follow this one. In a few days, the new CD "Enigma", another typical Ill Nino album, will also be released.
In short, a band recommended to the majority of Metal listeners.
"Ill Niño is much more accessible than before: not that this is necessarily a fault; in fact, the band has matured significantly and has created an album full of great songs."
"Outbursts akin to Machine Head, radio-friendly melodies, pure underground nu-metal, tribal rhythms, excellent technical and vocal performance, and an almost perfect production is what you’ll find on the album."
From the first listen it provokes many sensations in me... the album seems much more detailed compared to the previous one.
'Numb' is the song that is worth the whole album in my opinion, a true masterpiece.
Ill Nino is a decidedly unique band, fusing classic nu metal with Latin rock and typical Latin American sounds.
Confession and more generally El Nino represent the REVOLUCION of Metal. Truly very good.
