English post-punk band formed in Leeds in 1976, known for the landmark debut Entertainment! (1979) and politically charged, funk-influenced sound.

The band's name references the 'Gang of Four' from the Chinese Cultural Revolution. Early line-up included Jon King, Andy Gill, Dave Allen and Hugo Burnham.

Reviews praise Gang of Four's sharp post-punk sound, political lyrics and influential debut Entertainment!. Critics highlight bass-driven funk, Andy Gill's jagged guitar and the band's confrontational ideas. Later albums show stylistic shifts and mixed reception.

For:Fans of post-punk, political music, and late-70s/early-80s British new wave.
