Today I'm talking about an album that has struck me the most in the recent deathcore scene.
What sets this album apart from others? The themes, a concept focused on depression (don't worry, it doesn’t involve the clichéd and banal metalcore lyrics like those of Asking Alexandria), drug abuse, anguish, and the mistakes made that have led you to be isolated and forgotten by the world, the disgust towards the person you've become, a deathcore that opens up to solutions with various influences that amplify the sense of darkness, devoid of any melody, making it a perfect translation of these negative feelings, such as the initial "regression", the raw and unadulterated deathcore of "animosity" and the final "imbalance", the djent-y influences of "malediction" and "guilt", up to reaching tracks with noise and ambient influences as seen in "gloom lurker" or the title track that well-represents the musical spectrum of this band.
Instrumentally speaking, there's a solid rhythm section that creates a devastating sound wall, fiercely angry vocals, guitars showcasing an abyssal groove, blazing riffs, and breakdowns that are NEVER overused, always placed at the right moment to break your spine. A band to keep an eye on with a work that I especially recommend to lovers of deathcore and its akin.
