Simple. Introverted. Restless. Celestial. In another four words, 'Then Comes The Sun'.
These are the four peculiarities that distinguish this album by Elisa from her previous albums: 'Asile's World' from 2000, a pop-electronic album, and 'Pipes & Flowers', from 1998, decidedly rock.
Elisa, a singer-songwriter from Friuli, winner of the major category in 2001 at Sanremo, never fails to amaze: still dazed by the success of "Luce (Tramonti a Nord-Est)" she releases her third album just a few months after her victory, undoubtedly the most mature and troubled of her entire career. The album's title, inspired by an old Beatles album, has an "allegorical" meaning: "Then Comes The Sun", meaning "Then comes the sun" implies continuity, in the sense that life, one day, even without us, will continue to go on. It is not a pessimistic vision of life, but rather refers to the fact that each of us lives our own experiences, takes on our own responsibilities, and lives life in all its majesty and uncertainty.
Examining the 12 tracks on the CD, you immediately notice from the first track that the sound is sophisticated and refined: "Rainbow" is a ballad composed after making peace with an old friend; the background music creates a surreal atmosphere. "You can hear the music with no sounds, you can heal my heart without me knowing" or "sai ascoltare la musica senza nessun suono, sai guarire il mio cuore senza conoscermi". Pure poetry. It proceeds with the second track, "Heaven Out Of Hell": the first single extracted to promote the CD, the lyrics speak of the singer's relationship with her mother, regarding the possibility of living happily or not facing fears and obstacles together: "You push happiness so far away but it comes back, to give you all that you've given before, to love you the way you do like a mirror, look in the air 'n catch
There isn’t a single flaw in this record, there isn’t a single ill-chosen track, there isn’t a single word out of place.
Overall, a melancholic album, but crossed by the certainty that after... after comes the sun.
Then comes the sun… a declaration of a poetics, of a way to react to the world and the darkness of life.
No matter how much rain there may be in our lives, there will come a moment when the sun arrives, a moment when we will be winners, morally.
"Then Comes the Sun is a more than pleasant album, to be listened to with attention but also to be lived."
"Dancing is a piece of great impact where Elisa’s purely feminine sensitivity bursts out completely."
