"'Revelry' is a bizarre and lascivious chameleon, perverse in its change and also quite complicated to explain."

"'Revelry' perfectly hits the target of maintaining a high level of listener attention, despite the complexities of the work."

Beyond Dawn's 'Revelry' is a complex and original album blending doom metal roots with alternative rock and gothic atmospheres. The band’s use of brass instruments and evocative vocals create a unique and captivating soundscape. The album is praised for its variety, emotional depth, and elegant execution. It requires an open mind and patience to fully appreciate its intricate nuances. This is the band's last album with metal influences before shifting towards electropop. Explore Beyond Dawn’s 'Revelry'—dive into an intoxicating and original soundscape of dark and eclectic music.

"From These Wounds" drags you into dramatic and evocative scenarios, with a common factor: the Afterlife.

"Our psychopathic future is set, just learn to be tough" perfectly conveys the irreversible human condition.

Funeral’s fourth full-length album From These Wounds is a deeply moving funeral doom work shaped by the loss of key band members. Their sound evolves beyond typical genre traits with melodic, occasionally symphonic elements and a unique vocal approach by Frode Frosmo. The lyrics explore themes of despair and mortality, complemented by impeccable production and atmospheric instrumentation. This album offers a slow, long, and introspective journey into sorrow and reflection. Dive into Funeral’s From These Wounds for a powerful, haunting journey through funeral doom’s deepest emotions.

Hypocrisy has awakened in their world made of somewhat melodic Swedish death metal, never fast, very groovy, even easily recognizable choruses.

"The Arrival" is ultimately an album of great class, refined and engaging, but it may not take root in all those who appreciated the explosive vitality of the previous work.

The Arrival by Hypocrisy marks a return to melodic Swedish death metal roots after experimental influences on Catch22. The album is excellently produced, with powerful clarity and groovy, recognizable choruses. While the album offers fluid and engaging listening, it lacks the aggressive fury expected by some fans. Overall, it’s a refined but somewhat tentative release worth exploring. Listen to Hypocrisy's The Arrival and discover a melodic Swedish death metal journey with powerful production and refined songwriting.

The "new" tracks sounded and still sound great, pathos and power, great atmosphere, and the right dose of mournful melody.

Maybe it won’t be the top of the genre... but "Dark is the Season", in my opinion, remains a delightful album.

The review praises Benediction's 'Dark Is The Season' EP as a noteworthy piece of death metal history with its groovy melodies and powerful atmosphere. It highlights the strength of the unreleased tracks despite the EP also offering familiar versions of previous songs. The nostalgic value and raw production are celebrated, especially the emotional acoustic finale and a devastating cover of Anvil's 'Forged in Fire' featuring Barney Greenway. Though it may not top the genre, it remains a beloved and evocative release. Dive into Benediction's 'Dark Is The Season' and experience classic death metal with powerful grooves and emotive melodies today!

"Anathema emerge in the metal world proposing a doom/death somewhat reminiscent of the very first Cathedral... with a distinctly Victorian flavor."

"The prolixity never diminishes... it is simply the natural development of a succession of broad and deep riffs... keeping the listener’s interest alive."

Anathema's 'The Crestfallen EP' from 1992 showcases their raw doom/death metal roots with a unique Victorian and melodic touch. The EP features long, evolving tracks marked by deep riffs and a mix of growled and clean vocals. Despite the raw production, the album's atmospheric qualities and distinct style make it a compelling listen. This early work stands as an essential piece for fans of gothic and doom metal. Listen to Anathema's 'The Crestfallen EP' and experience the raw roots of their iconic doom metal evolution!

Never was a title more fitting, a slow painful descent, introspective, sensual, aimed at a journey of inner knowledge, mystical spirituality, and perhaps even of maximum redemption.

Sundown may not be an essential album in your already abundant discography but I still advise you to give it a listen.

From a purely musical point of view, we are faced with searing sounds like a Saharan wind, stripped of excessively cumbersome or bombastic background elements.

Cemetary's 1996 album Sundown offers straightforward vintage gothic metal rooted in doom/death metal. The music is raw yet expressive, with targeted keyboards and a hoarse, emotive voice. The album features standout tracks like 'Elysia' and 'Last Transmission' and recalls influences from Tiamat and Paradise Lost. The production is excellent, and the artwork complements the music's dark atmosphere. While not essential, it's a captivating listen for gothic metal fans. Discover the raw and emotive vintage gothic metal of Cemetary's Sundown—listen now and explore a hidden classic.

"No one at that time had ventured so far, and perhaps because of this early stage, they paid a considerable price in terms of internal group stability and recognized fame."

"The keyboards and guitars construct a constant chase, a remarkably original sci-fi/horror-flavored weave that somewhat recalls Voivod of 'Killing Technology' mixed with a very refined thrash/death entity."

Nocturnus' 1990 album 'The Key' stands out as an early and highly original death metal release, mixing thrash influences with pioneering keyboard use. The album's sci-fi and apocalyptic themes form a narrative concept, supported by intricate guitar work and distinctive vocals. While the drumming performance has some flaws, the album remains a notable and influential masterpiece deserving recognition. Its blend of horror, sci-fi, and death metal set it apart in its era. Explore Nocturnus' 'The Key' and experience a groundbreaking fusion of death metal and sci-fi — listen now and dive into a metal classic!

Each release is conceived to push the listener’s sense of modesty a bit further, their reluctance to submission and lechery, to sexual experimentation, to the common sense of decency.

If you have a robust stomach and an unhealthy desire for oddities, then this Ampeauty will make you sing at the top of your lungs to the rhythm of a deformed and rotten sick death metal.

Pungent Stench's album Ampeauty combines stoner rock, Sabbath-inspired doom, and European death metal to deliver a unique and brutally honest experience. The band's long career is marked by pushing controversial boundaries with satirical and perverse themes. Highlights include powerful riffs, chilling choruses, and polished production. While the album slows down towards the end, it remains a solid release for fans with a taste for extreme and provocative metal. Dive into the dark and twisted world of Pungent Stench's Ampeauty—listen now and embrace the extreme sound!
