Picking up the brilliant idea of @[Alemarcon] who picked up the brilliant idea of @[Martello], I allow myself, as a further kick in the... ahem, sneak preview of the columns that will start in a week, to create a ranking of the worst albums by Antonello Venditti (from 1991 to 2015, excluding "Dalla pelle al cuore" from 2007), from the least unbearable to the peak of absolute diarrhea.

N°1: "Goodbye Novecento" (1999)
And here we are at the gem. The grand vizier of all the horrible records by Venditti. The apotheosis of all the crap he has pushed onto the market from '91 to today: "Goodbye Novecento", a farewell to the millennium now at the dawn of its sunset. It’s an album that tries to depart from its predecessors, using more guitar arrangements and fewer electronic ones, striving to give a new "turn," moving (or rather, trying to move) from sentimental trinkets (which he had cozy-ed up to for a decade) to reflective and engaged themes. Successful result? Of course not! In fact, it manages to be even worse than the previous two albums, which at least, despite being of a very low general level, started off as pop without too many pretensions... and if the supposed engaged songs are things like the title track, "In questo mondo che non puoi capire," or "Fianco a fianco," then I much prefer "Ogni volta" and various atrocities. But the point is that this album also contains the most syrupy, vulgar, and unbearable love song, not only of Antonello but probably of the entire Italian singer-songwriter scene...

The masterwork of the album: Che tesoro che sei

Yesterday, thanks to Hammer, you were spared the last two parts... this time you won’t escape!

Taking up the brilliant idea of
@[Alemarcon] to revisit@[Martello]'s genius concept, I dare to make, as a further kick in the balls... erm, a preview of the columns that will start in a week, a ranking of the worst albums by Antonello Venditti (from 1991 to 2015, excluding "Dalla pelle al cuore" from 2007) from the least unbearable to the pinnacle of absolute diarrhea.

N°2: "Prendilo tu questo frutto amaro" (1995)
Ah, 1995. Ah, the year of "Io per lei," "Le ragazze fanno grandi sogni"... a rosy time for Italian singer-songwriter music! This marks Venditti's second consecutive abomination, but it turns out to be thirty times worse than the previous one! The title doesn’t bode well, but the album is even worse. Shitty rhymes that wouldn’t even make the earliest Baglioni proud, melodies that seem arranged in Bontempi style, lyrics bordering on indecency, and I’ll add an awful cover as well. Back then, I thought to myself, “This is beyond any existing physical conception! It’s IMPOSSIBLE for it to get worse!” Poor deluded soul...

The masterpiece of the album: Prendilo Tu Questo Frutto Amaro

Building on the brilliant idea of @[Alemarcon] to revisit the brilliant idea of @[Martello], I would like to offer, as an additional kick in the...er, preview of the columns that will start in a week, a ranking of the worst albums by Antonello Venditti (from 1991 to 2015, excluding "Dalla pelle al cuore" from 2007) from the least unbearable to the peak of absolute diarrhea.

N°3: "Tortuga" (2015)
For now (and hopefully forever), the last original work in Antonello's discography. Still on a four-year schedule, as he has gotten us used to since '91. In an interview, he stated: "Tortuga is my best album," calling it the most heartfelt, committed, and similar crap of his discography. The only opening single "Cosa avevi in mente" (a pathetic rehash of the beautiful "Lilly" from forty years earlier) indicates the general trend of the album. An album that might be described as "less unbearable" than the one I posted this morning but contains the most foul-smelling pile of crap of them all...

The masterpiece of the album: Ti amo inutilmente

Taking inspiration from the brilliant idea of @[Alemarcon] to revisit the brilliant idea of @[Martello], I allow myself, as an additional kick in the... ehm, preview of the columns that will start in a week, to present a ranking of the worst albums by Antonello Venditti (from 1991 to 2015 and excluding "Dalla pelle al cuore" from 2007) from the least unbearable to the peak of absolute diarrhea.

No. 4: "Che fantastica storia è la vita" (2003)
We are getting closer to the podium, and the fight for the title of worst is becoming increasingly difficult. Here we are, after a four-year hiatus, in the new millennium, Nello serves us a new work. A work that aims to revive Venditti's career, which had already hit rock bottom (in fact, it had started to dig). Does he succeed? Of course not! The only thing worthy of some mention is Gato Barbieri's saxophone in the title track. Yes, that title track we all know, that “Mi chiamo Antonio e faccio il cantautore,” that highly praised piece which is actually just a load of nonsense.

The shitshow of the album: Non C'è Male

Picking up on the brilliant idea of @[Alemarcon] to revive the brilliant idea of @[Martello], I would like to make, as a further kick in the... erm, preview of the columns that will start in a week, a ranking of the worst albums by Antonello Venditti (from 1991 to 2015, excluding "Dalla pelle al cuore" from 2007) from the least unbearable to the peak of absolute diarrhea.

No. 5: "Unica" (2011)
After the previous and almost tolerable "Dalla pelle al cuore," many of Antonello's fans had hoped for a possible artistic rebirth. Four years later, here comes Antonello to serve us the new album. Promise kept? Not even close with the fog! If the title track, the first single released, didn't promise anything good, the rest of the album is probably worse. Some passages are almost interesting ("Ti ricordi il cielo" above all) but absolutely fail to save the album.

The masterpiece of the album: La Ragazza Del Lunedì

Recalling the brilliant idea of @[Alemarcon] to revisit the brilliant idea of @[Martello], I would like to make, as an additional kick in the...erm, sneak peek of the columns that will start in a week, a ranking of the worst albums by Antonello Venditti (from 1991 to 2015, excluding "Dalla pelle al cuore" from 2007) from the least unbearable to the peak of absolute diarrhea.

N°6: "Benvenuti in paradiso" (1991)
Here it is! The first piece of crap from start to finish by an now completely bewildered Antonello Venditti. He tries to pick up the path traced by the previous (and still dignified) "In questo mondo di ladri," but in fact, it doesn’t hold up to comparison. Perhaps, and I emphasize #PERHAPS, there are a few vaguely almost-dignified passages left, but they are all drowned in lyrics on the verge of indecency and arrangements comparable to a bucket of cold water poured over your balls. But since what’s to come will be much worse, I can’t bring myself to give it 1 lousy point, so in a generous spirit, I assign it a one-and-a-half rounded up for affection to two.

Damiano Er faina GIÙ LE MANI DAI GIOVANI” Avete chiuso le discoteche? Ora chiudete anche le scuole
Hahahaha, is he serious or is he (actually, he's) making fun of us? And apparently this guy is even given quite a bit of visibility... come on!

Parentesi Tonde - Karim Capuano "NOOOOOOH"
Taken from one of the most horrifying films I've ever seen, in comparison "Alex the Ram" was Oscar-worthy.

Tiziano Ferro - Buona (Cattiva) Sorte
#diteloallozioiside
Summer 2019. In that damn Radio Zeta, they played nothing but this crap, LITERALLY. Every 2-3 songs or so, you'd hear that “you have your father's eyes, your mother's mouth”...F*** OFF.

Tiziano Ferro - RIMMEL
I don't know, it came out about twenty days ago and it's already annoyed the hell out of me (and not just me, I think).
