RARE: Neil Young....on Kurt Cobain suicide / Sleeps With Angels
Sorry @[fungo] for not responding earlier about why 'Nirvana no!' but I'm doing it now - and I hope succinctly - for two reasons: first, because you're on DeBaser and just being part of it is a synonym for intelligence and curiosity in the musical and artistic field, and second, because Nirvana is undoubtedly the most representative band of the grunge movement. They have become a legend in the musical realm, managing to capture the mood of an entire generation, transforming 'alternative rock' into a mass phenomenon. The suicide, as well as the existential rage and self-destruction of their leader, Kurt Cobain, has certainly fueled the myth of the 'beautiful and romantic' young artist, and it is also true that the impact of Nirvana's music on the '90s is undeniably strong and I would say almost dramatic. In short, they embodied that very apathy of the '90s which never transformed into a real opposition to the destruction of an entire generation, a struggle to rebel against discomfort, not just of the youth but of an entire society at the mercy of capitalist power (represented by the one percent of the world's population!). To that anarchism of post-modernity that still lies ahead and seems never-ending. To the defeat of the peoples.
I'm not against Nirvana but against the era they represented, with 'the nihilistic sarcasm of punk' that some have pointed out.
Using a peremptory statement like mine about Nirvana might outrage some, but I can't isolate their music from the socio-political context that shaped them and which, mind you, destroyed Kurt Cobain's life. No, I can't listen to Nirvana, not anymore.
Neil Young- My My, Hey Hey (Out Of The Blue)
Sade - Cherish the Day (Live 2011)
But is this a painting? The value of beauty: New York in black and white and she is a stroke of red. Almost body art, almost, because she is an idol on a pedestal.
Sade - Paradise (Official Video)
Sometimes we settle for so little; just one love and we feel in paradise. Instead, all that exists lies solely in the realm of the VISIBLE.
Earth, Wind & Fire - Boogie Wonderland
Carnival, olé. The world had transformed into an aesthetic project, then, over time, the nineties arrived. The end.
6. 10CC - I'm Not in Love
This little ribbon object is for you, @[Dislocation], a small consolation for your Revox.
Marvin Gaye - Sunny (1966)
Today I'm doing great with spaces of existence. 1966. For some, life is fast and intense: Nouveau Réalisme, Pop Art, Minimalism, Conceptual Art, Arte Povera.
As Ernst Gombrich said, there is no art. There are only artists and their works.
Marvin Gaye - Sexual Healing - Extended Version
After doing our duty as citizens :- x
a bit of Marvin with his - Sexual Care - that we deserve
Dave Brubeck - Take Five
I know, I've already listened to it, but what can I do?
Imagine Dragons - Thunder
That's fine, I like them. Some may want to move on, but this is part of the great game of our time in which the world has become an enormous market of things, noises, objects, words, technologies, etc. I am part of it and I fold into this widespread aesthetic dimension where everything becomes a spectacle and, whether you like it or not, black and white still embodies a lot of Milanese design. An aesthetic of the spectacle that is still art of the postmodern, of transformation - even of the body, see the artist man-machine Stelarc. Hello everyone, and sorry for my absence, which is never without a thought for DeB.
Gymnopedie no. 1, 2 & 3 for 2 HOURS, Erik Satie (1866-1925), Piano Solo
Skilled hands in a wise framing. A young pianist whose hands and a piece of casually rolled-up sleeve are the only visible parts, while at times simple homewear is hinted at, worn without any quest or show of elegance. It is also this that captivates, the pursuit to recreate a familial atmosphere, making us listen as if we were right there beside. The charm of Satie remains intact.
Seal - Crazy [Official Video]
Do you remember it? It was the '90s, look at how we dressed... Crazy!
The Beatles | A HARD DAY'S NIGHT | Full Movie
While writing the profile for the history of music videos, I came across the 1964 video created to promote 'A Hard Day's Night' by the Beatles (in 1965 Help!) it's already history, folks!
Franz Ferdinand - Always Ascending (Official Video)
Always Scots.. could it be a genetic issue?!
Erik Satie - Once Upon A Time In Paris
Listening to Satie is a good and beautiful thing, just like still believing in the 4 representations of existential images. What are they? The choice is yours; I’m still thinking about it.
Paul McCarthy's 'Train, Mechanical'
The terrible masks and obscene sculptures used for Paul McCarthy's video performance Bussy Burger are a denunciation of postmodernism that has blurred the line between reality and spectacle, the true and the false, the natural and the artificial... McCarthy's unwatchable works are like a contemporary news broadcast, with no beginning or end. All that's missing is the atomic bomb.
USA for Africa - We are the World
The power with capitalism, economy, finance, and technology produces the impersonal ideologies of totalitarianism that create only violence, transcending the individual and rendering them invisible. Ugh, a bit of humanity, please.
John Lennon - Woman
... symbolic meaning of the different spatial forms that the complicated and richly suggestive world of the female universe holds... ugh, enjoy listening, DeBasariani.
Scissor Sisters - I Don't Feel Like Dancin'
Scissor Sisters - Any Which Way
It's as if ... Bee Gees and Daft Punk went to a Gay Pride festival together ;- )
