Disorder

Meatbodies - Move

DEADLY! Between garage, both electric and murky psychedelia, noise, fuzz...

Move is tremendously fascinating... acidic, melodic, and angular at the same time...

Los Angeles… these days…

Sort Sol - Let your fingers do the walking

Kiss The Streets (Remastered)

Old remarkable Danish band born in the late seventies post-punk scene, influenced by Pere Ubu, Joy Division, Television, and similar groups. Depeche Mode with a bit more guitar… Not my thing, but they’re good…

Jeff Buckley - Lover, You Should've Come Over (Audio)

May 29, 1997, Memphis, Tennessee.

Wearing a shirt that says Altamont, the cursed Festival, black jeans, Dr. Martens. In the van with his friend Keith, they sang at the top of their lungs Three Days… now he feels like he needs a bathroom before joining the others.

“Don’t wander too far, come back,” Keith yells to him while he hears him singing Whole Lotta Love…

“Jeff, fuck, watch out… there’s a tugboat!!!”…

Too late, they will find the body a week later…

Calling Joan, his girlfriend, is simply surreal: “Joan, he went swimming in the river… he wanted to take a bath”… “Keith, fuck, where’s Jeff?!?”… “Joan… I saw him go into the river… I don’t know how to tell you this… Jeff has disappeared underwater”…

The story of Jeff and Joan is beautiful, having just begun. She plays the violin with The Dambuilders… Jeff is enchanted by her.

“Maybe I’ve found a cure for my problem… I’m taking new meds but I absolutely have to avoid drugs and alcohol,” he tells her a few hours earlier… She is crazy about that troubled guy.

Despite Joan, Jeff is still in touch with Rebecca Moore, his first great love. It is said that he dedicated Grace to her.

The night before he died, he sends her a text: “Think of me and smile… don’t worry, I’ll be okay… see you on the other side”…

Tammy Shouse, the wife of David, his best friend, has always been his confidante… the one Jeff leans on in tough times.

“Jeff told me he dreamt of dying,” Tammy states.

“I couldn't wake up from the nightmare that sucked me in and dragged me down… Oh, it felt so real”…

Yeah...

Mama Rosin - Story of love and hate

That three Swiss guys, Swiss!!!, with the devilish support of Jon Spencer and his adventure buddy Matt Verta Rey, would offer us the ragged tradition of a mix of blues, zydeco, cajun, rockabilly among old jungle orchestras, exotic rural atmospheres… all with a garage, punk, roots spirit that couldn't be more authentic…

Pannonica

Continues...

Baroness PANNONICA ROTSCHILD, Thelonious Monk and Jazz.

Pannonica is spending everything on them, but it’s not a problem; in fact... it has become her mission.

"I may not inherit anything, but I can spend my money as I wish. And the money spent on jazz is well spent."

In March 1955, however, everything becomes complicated. Charlie Parker knocks on her door; he is sick, broken, destroyed. "Stay as long as you need," she says. Three days later, Charlie dies. A Black man dying in the hotel room of a wealthy white woman... married. Nica’s husband asks for a divorce, she is disinherited, and loses custody of her three minor children.

Three years later, the second deadly blow arrives. During a quiet stop at a bar in Delaware, Monk is attacked and severely beaten by three guys. The police arrive and, if possible, beat that Negro even harder. All for no reason. But he is Black, and she is white. They search the car... a bag of marijuana. For Monk, it would mean another conviction and the end of everything.

No hesitation. "IT'S MINE." He spends a few weeks in jail, facing 10 years, but for once a miracle happens. The lawyer finds the right loophole... they searched the car without consent.

He returns to New York to a house bought for him by his brother Vittorio. Her, Monk, his wife, and three hundred cats.

Monk begins to deteriorate irreversibly... but that is another story...

Nica will die in 1988, six years after Thelonious. Her ashes, according to her wishes, scattered in the Hudson River... at the time she specifically requested: 'Round Midnight'...

'Round Midnight - Thelonious Monk (1947)

First part…

Baroness PANNONICA ROTSCHILD, Thelonious Monk, and Jazz.

I believe that anyone who loves Jazz owes a lot to this Noble Lady.

After all, it was clear from the beginning that she wasn't comfortable in that world of obligations and rules. Drawn to speed and engines, at the age of 18 she was already driving fast cars and by 21 she had a pilot's license. She married Baron Jules de Koenigswarter, they lived in Paris, and they had 5 children. They survived the war... then she discovered Jazz.

1948: her friend Teddy Wilson introduces her to an unknown artist... Nica listens, unaware that this record will change her life and the lives of many artists... that it will change the fate of Jazz. That day she misses her flight to return to her family in London but does not take the next one because... she immediately sets out to find that Thelonious Monk, without having the slightest idea of where to locate him.

She will become the patroness of jazz, helping many jazz musicians in their careers. For her, each of them will write at least one song.

It will take her SIX years to track down Monk, and from that moment on, she dedicates herself entirely to him and his wife Nellie. Everything, from paying his bills, medical expenses, buying him a house, to finding him gigs.

The suite at the Stanhope Hotel in N.Y., where she lives, becomes the gathering place for the greatest jazz minds of the time (the list is long). She hosts them, feeds them, buys back the instruments they have sold at the pawn shop for a few pennies...

The Who - Magic Bus - Live At Leeds HQ

How many nights I would have spent with this guy... what a mess we would have made, damn!!!

Anyway, I have a deep affection for Keith, and between the comedic and the tragic, we could tell dozens, dozens, and dozens of stories about him...

But this one is one of those "simple" ones that makes me laugh every time I think about it because the scene must have been really a blast.

At Mick Jagger and Bianca Perez Mora Macias's wedding...

She is incredibly sexy, three months pregnant, wearing a white jacket with a single button and... nothing underneath.

You know the usual large group of more or less high and thoroughly drunk rockstars.

Bianca is tired, goes to bed early while Mick, of course, stays at the party.

Keith is, as always, the most hyped and excited by that vision that has stuck in his head and not just that...

What to do?

Simple: climb up the wall that leads to the bedroom... Bianca wakes up and can't believe her eyes...

A crazy little elf completely naked, wearing a pair of women's underwear on his head and a pair of toy glasses with plastic eyeballs popping out and wobbling back and forth.

She will never forget it...

Rival Sons - Good Luck (Official Audio)

Rival Sons - GOOD THINGS

Fabulous band... they will have their own column, just a heads up, finishing the garages... in 2030...

In any case, this splendid band is immediately labeled as yet another clone of the Dirigible. Let's be clear, a lot of great stuff comes from that side, but let's not forget about a phenomenal garage-beat vibe close to the Yardbirds - and we’re still there, anyway. We could be in 1966 in Swinging London or in a venue on Sunset Boulevard, your choice...

And then Jay Buchanan has a fantastic beat tone; he reminds me of Rod Evans, whom I really like from Deep Purple 1 and Captain Beyond...

Ah… Good Things is… wonderful…

That said, this beautiful band is immediately labeled as yet another clone of the Zeppelin. Let’s be clear, there’s a lot of great stuff coming from that direction, but let’s not forget about a phenomenal garage-beat side close to the Yardbirds - and we’re still there, anyway. Beautiful Boy (Darling Boy) (Ultimate Mix)

The stories of Rock - but also ours, mine for sure - are always based on a solid foundation of truth and on… feelings, emotions, romance, adrenaline… from those who tell them. This is why the narratives are all different, even if just slightly, but distinct… everyone adds their own perspective (let’s obviously leave aside the gratuitous lies from the scummy, greedy kinds).

June 4, 1980. One of the greatest songwriters of all time, yes, HIM, John Winston Lennon, hasn’t written anything in years… he’s tried but can’t seem to get a single word down. In New York, he has developed a passion for sailing. He’s learned to pilot a boat. He organizes a cruise to Bermuda. Him, Yoko, Sean, three friends, and the captain. During the journey, the sailing vessel is caught in a violent storm. The skipper is exhausted, everyone else is panicking… Lennon takes command, gets exhilarated, saves everything and everyone, and days later arrives in Bermuda.

In Bermuda, he suddenly rediscovers his creative spark. In just over a month, he writes all the songs that will make up Double Fantasy…

Often, it takes an unexpected rush of adrenaline to pull you out of malaise and depression.

Everything comes to light from the logs of the Megan Jaye in the new millennium… complete with video, app, and various modern nonsense: The Bermuda Tapes or something like that…

It’s possible, of course, that someone will tell it differently… and that’s the beauty of it…

Unfortunately, shortly after, his renewed energy will be definitively brought to a close… at least in this world…

Chelsea Hotel - Leonard Cohen

“Miss, are you waiting for someone?”, Janis smiles… no one has ever called her ‘miss’…

“I’m waiting for my friend Kris Kristofferson,” the girl replies…

“You’re lucky, miss, I am Kris Kristofferson,” Leonard says to her, smiling…
“I remembered you taller,” she laughs genuinely joyfully, Janis…

Legend has it that they don’t say anything more… they take the elevator and go up to her at 411.

A few years later, Cohen will dedicate this song to her with tones, for him, it is said unusually raw and cynical… as if he feared of seeming too romantic…

“You told me you preferred beautiful men but that for me you would make an exception”…

He, the greatest songwriter after or along with Dylan, she the greatest white Blues singer. She destroyed by anguish and frustration of not being understood and accepted. Of being ugly, awkward, with crooked legs and pimples. She feels good only on stage, when she repeats that she feels like making love to thousands of people… only to go home always alone.

A story of love and sex, as it happened in those years. Sudden and deep at the same time… two very different people who found each other… by God…
