Happy New Year my ass, Nobile Marshal Boselli would have shouted in everyone's face with that voice made gravelly by three packs of unfiltered cigarettes and several Averna/Montenegro already before the assembly.
They're ugly - dressed even worse - like my beloved Canned Heat, but Bob “The Bear” and company had a certain charisma, they emitted positive energy at sight. These guys look like five useless losers who came together because no one else would notice them. Yet they delight with their songs; it's much, much better to listen to them than to see them.
I'm naturally generous with those I feel might deserve it, and I decided to start “writing” again just for them. I struggle, I consume a lot of energy trying to come up with something decent, worthy of the site. But they truly deserve it, because they are indeed valid and because the DNA, when it comes to looks, was not exactly kind.
Still, I asked for guidance and advice from the Nobles up there:
Brian: “Never heard of them”.
Jimi: “Same as Brian”.
Syd: “Leave me in peace, Count”.
Jim: “Do they play Blues?!”
Janis: “Who?!”
Bonzo: “Who the hell cares?!”
Keith: “Same as Bonzo, Count”.
Bravo, bravo, brag about it!!! Luckily Lemmy and Bon, having heard of the matter, while enjoying this other life in the company of aristocratic and elegant young ladies, alcohol, and other unidentified stuff, perhaps out of innate camaraderie, shouted approvingly “Go Count, smash everything!!!”The Ramones also pass by, beautifully depressed and proud, offering me a well-disposed and auspicious “Gabba Gabba Hey, Count”.
If I had asked Duane or Ronnie for encouragement, surely I would have found more motivated people. Nevertheless, we give a noble welcome to these desperados from Fort Worth. These refined villagers have produced four albums since their genesis dated 2011, and each of them deserves your listening.
I chose “El Astronauta” - I was very undecided between this and the first “Torquila Torquila!”, both splendid, without fillers and with fascinating covers - because the first song I heard from them is the splendid, ethereal, windy and sandy at the same time, “The Last Great Audit”.
But don't be misled by “my” Duane and Ronnie regarding the genre of these unfortunate Texans because there is so much more. Certainly Southern, Blues, and a very personal Country form the foundation of their sound, which often breaks free - mixing everything with noble mastery - toward psychedelia, Hard-Space Rock like Blue Oyster Cult, Fu Manchu's badass Stoner, Soul flashes, and assimilating the best by crossing the Mexican border.
In short, these extravagant subjects may not have been gifted with the beautiful and cursed face and a statuesque physique that ease the path to fame, but, trust the Count, they will convey enchanting emotions. Nine tracks, each of which is uniquely remarkable for sound, pathos, and passion.
Rock is dead, I’ve heard for a couple of decades...
Ahahahahahahah, Pauper Decepti!!!
This Noble entity will bury us all; from the already decrepit, to the old intolerant and sclerotic like me, to the arrogant and dreamy young. Let's stay relaxed (so to speak, savansadir).
Enjoy listening, Nobles.
