A greeting to the entire site, I'm Enrico, 21 years old, living in the depths of the lost south, oscillating between Brindisi and Lecce. My friends call me a damn rocker, and they’re probably right. The fact is that I am a troubled and mistreated man because I live in an area where if you don't play anything related to reggae, ska, pizzica, or taranta, you don't have the right to have your space to express yourself publicly. Due to this fucking ideological movement that developed largely throughout Puglia called "Orgoglio Salentino," ethno-folkloristic music is no longer a niche or occasional phenomenon but has become a pure and damned commercial factor that is shoved even in places and situations where it has no fucking relevance: pubs, nightclubs, rock gatherings... I'm desperate and fed up to the limit. I don't intend to mistreat genres outside of rock, I respect them, but I demand that my spaces be respected as well. I play in a band called THE GEMM, where our expression key is Seattle rock-grunge (Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Stone Temple Pilots). Unfortunately, very few venues or festivals are willing to host us, so it's hard to transmit to Pugliese youth a musical genre that is slowly being forgotten... I am currently engaged with my group in an ideological battle in an attempt to defend Rock in its purest state.
As for my personal musical tastes, I am quite eclectic and I listen, besides the aforementioned artists, also to the giants of the '70s/'80s: Deep Purple, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Steppenwolf, Free, Genesis, Black Sabbath, Aerosmith, Guns N' Roses, Judas Priest, Dio, Dokken, Queensrÿche, Quiet Riot; among today's artists, I really like the alternative line of Radiohead, Muse, Faith No More; then moving on to today's true rockers: RATM/Audioslave, Velvet Revolver, Godsmack, Dropbox; I also cultivate a certain passion for Blues: Eric Clapton (a god!), Hendrix, Muddy Waters, B.B. King; moreover, regarding the music of our beautiful country, I hold dear Liga, Litfiba, and Timoria old school, the first 3 albums of Negrita, and above all the great tradition of singer-songwriters that nothing has to envy other countries: Guccini, Gaber, De André, De Gregori, Paoli, Dalla, Daniele Silvestri...
In short, for those who haven't understood, my musical taste is a fucking mess, but they will never manage to make me like pizzica or reggae! Fuck!
Thanks to all friends of DeBaser for the hospitality and for the service they offer; guys, you are gifting us free expression, and that’s not little.
Ciao and good review to everyone. All or Nothing!
Greet with joy!
