Anathema We're Here Because We're Here

A good review, written with the right enthusiasm. A great mention, I’m already finding the parts you point out as the best. But above all, a page of comments that reminds me of the old debaser from back in the day! Beautiful! Transgressive, creative, to hell with seriousness, we want to have a little fun in these grim times. Bye bye!

Poor thing! I'm sorry! What does the airbag feel like? Anyway, great review, and you got me to discover Elisabeth 1, good one. Bye bye

Well-written review, you captured the genre well in my opinion. However, I do make a comparison with the past, and none of the tracks on this album come close in beauty to Satellites, Solar Wake, Gallery of Reality, for example, which are more unique, edgier/sweet, more surprising and interesting. I don’t know if you know them. I have the impression that all the recent symphonic metal albums and the like that are being released are disappointing; I can't seem to find any real gems like before. Bye-bye.
Elend Winds Devouring Men

Well, gasta, the comparison with the 3rd is indeed a bit pushed; they are more doom than darkwave. The other bands I mentioned, however, are part of the Elend genre. Either we decide that no artist can be compared to another, or we make comparisons among similar ones. I don’t know if you visit last.fm, but on the Elend page, under “similar artists,” you will see exactly those bands. Regarding orchestration, Verbannten use synthesizers, Dargaard do not, Autumn Tears I’m not aware of; they vary, in short. Moving on to my vote, while it's true that the review of the taxi passenger is vague, I saw a spontaneity of feeling combined with an effective language (“we doze off bored and exhausted”) that, as I said, resonates with me in substance. I listened to the tracks you pointed out, and others; I tried in the past to appreciate Elend, and you’re talking to someone who digests Sopor well, who doesn’t fall asleep neither with All My Faith Lost nor with Unto Ashes, and who doesn’t mind strange combinations of sounds (Enid). But I think Elend lacks the structure beneath the painting, the leading melody. Tastes are tastes; I know many people like exactly that, but not taxirider.
In general, I see debaser as a site where, at least in the past, spontaneity was an element that set it apart. There are many serious sites with top-notch reviews, but it seems to me that a bit of passion in music doesn’t hurt, especially because it sparks debates like this one between you and me!
@hell: yes, it’s the sad truth! More than disbanding, Dark Sanctuary has said they need a long break. How long? Read this from their homepage a few months ago: “As you probably know, we will do a very last concert next month. If you always wanted to see us, this is probably your last opportunity.” Probably the last opportunity
sob sob sob. I believe I read the news on last.fm but, honestly, I don’t remember. Who knows how the new album is; I’m waiting to be able to download it from some paid site at the minimum.

Well, a bit of passion in expressing one's opinion doesn't hurt, especially since I agree with you "cientoperciento," Elend are fundamentally boring, gloomy but without the greatness of 3rd nor my beloved Autumn Tears, the great Sopor when he's at his best, and then there's Dark Sanctuary who just disbanded (boo-hoo), Trobar de Morte, Dargaard, Die Verbannten Kinder Evas, etc. It's true, you don't say much, but you say it well hehehehe.
Draconian The Burning Halo

As you can see, I comment on the reviews as soon as they come out (more than two years later in this case, hehe). The fact is that I fell in love with Draconian not long ago, especially with Serenade of Sorrow and Heaven Laid in Tears, and so I went on the good old Debaser to learn more. Now I've downloaded Morningstar, I think I'll like it. Saludos a profusiones

Beautiful fleshy review. I like them, the only flaw in my opinion is that sometimes his bass voice is heavy; I mean, a tenor voice fits everything better, right? The melodies and arrangements are great, and the dreamy and original atmospheres. Bye bye.
Sopor Aeternus ...Ich Töte Mich...

P.S. You arrive in a time when gothic lovers have almost all vanished into metaphysical nothingness, I really hope they return both to comment on the reviews and to write them. This genre of music is already niche, and if there end up being only two or three comments on a review, it’s not very encouraging for those who write...
Sopor Aeternus ...Ich Töte Mich...

In my opinion, you did an excellent job; I don’t find it superficial, maybe just a tad didactic in tone, which could be more fluid and reflect emotions, but the content is all there. And I’m glad you’re talking about Sopor because he deserves it, if only for the absolute originality of his work. Bye bye.
