Queen Made In Heaven

For me, Queen have produced three excellent albums from a musical standpoint: "Queen II," "Sheer Heart Attack," and "A Night at the Opera." The rest includes a few decent songs and a lot of mediocrity. Live, Freddie was a one-of-a-kind frontman with an unforgettable voice, while Brian May is an intelligent guitarist, but let’s not exaggerate with the adjectives... By their own admission, their sole aim was to make entertainment music, especially from '79 onwards. If evaluated from this perspective, they are certainly a band that many enjoy, but artistically, except for the three albums mentioned, they are nothing or almost nothing.

@coolermaster: "composition, musical syntax, technique"?? If this is music to you, then I’m not surprised you don't appreciate an absolute gem like Rock Bottom, which completely disregards established patterns and conventions. And the serious thing is, unless you're under 20 (in which case you’d be excused), you confuse the figure of the intellectual with that of the artist; but really, are we losing our minds? I could cite countless ARTISTS who have nothing intellectual about them but reach supreme artistic quality, maybe without even knowing how to hold an instrument or (THINK OF THE BLASPHEMY!) without adhering to the rules of harmony. Regarding sales: Rock Bottom was never noticed by anyone? And so what? Who the hell cares? Artistic value isn’t measured by popularity. Was Wyatt a buddy? WHO THE HELL CARES! Did he fall out of the window and end up in a wheelchair? WHO THE HELL CARES! I listen and I judge. There are very few records with the depth of Rock Bottom, and to consider it a "paperweight" is an opinion that can only come from someone who thinks an album of jazz jam sessions (by the way, of great quality) like "Hot Rats" is intellectual. Zappa took himself a lot less seriously than you think… @MIDISUN: Zappa wasn’t high; in fact, he was notoriously against drugs.

Damn, I knew there were psychopaths on Debaser, but this page takes it to another level!

You don't know them, but do you listen to other stuff? And how do you know? Give them a listen, you might like them... Hi! :)

No, in fact this year, so far, no masterpieces have been released. The latest from Deerhunter isn't bad, and "April" by Sun Kil Moon is decent; meanwhile, the new albums by Sigur Ros and Opeth are a bit below average; there’s surely something else good that has come out, but actually nothing that can come close to Siamese Dream...

Even if he had said that your mother sleeps with the Boston Celtics, you're not allowed to take revenge on his reviews by fabricating non-existent criticisms.

darkHaem, it's ridiculous how you try to throw dirt on Lux's writing style, just to get back at him for some of his remarks about you. You're far from objective; you've simply taken a dislike to someone and are trying by all means to discredit them. Lux writes very well and, above all, knows and can analyze very important albums with great competence.

For heaven's sake, I respect a person's decision to abandon reason in favor of faith in something absolutely illogical and not very functional to the very existence of the universe. In fact, since they mentioned hell, I simply asked which hell they were referring to. It's hard to guess the right religion...if you choose the wrong deity to believe in, you end up in the hell of another religious creed, because you're considered an infidel...Secondly, the idiot is not me, but whoever says "honor to Lennon’s assassin."
