Van Morrison Astral Weeks
Voto:
I agree with midage on everything, but especially on Jeff Buckley's cover. Beautiful. But the original version gives me goosebumps too. One of the best albums ever, and the best by Van Morrison. Following are Veedon Fleece, Saint Dominic's Preview... and far behind is Moondance, which I find significantly inferior to the three mentioned.

I also fell in love with "Marlene on the Wall," I saw the video on MTV and was struck by it. I agree that both the first and the second are her best, but I recommend seeing her live; I've heard she's still very talented.

What a record, and to think she kept it as the last one... the good news, not for money, the story of an employee, creuza, nuvole were also stunning, but this one perhaps has something more, at least musically.
Angelo Branduardi Gulliver, la luna e altri disegni

For me, Gulliver (the song) is beautiful, one of his best works.

I don't want to sound like a know-it-all, but "Philip Donovan Leitch" is none other than the (great) singer-songwriter DONOVAN, who I highly recommend in case you enjoy this album. I really love his records from the late 60s, particularly a double album whose name I can't remember. Back to this album, it’s truly surprising; apart from the fact that I already quite liked Branduardi before, here he perhaps shows himself to be a great musician, independent of his record sales, finding the courage to make an LP without hit singles... kudos also to Grasshopper for commenting on it, a small great gem.
The Durutti Column L C

I must have it somewhere, without mercy, but I haven’t listened to it yet. I find the first one nice, but it’s not on the level of LC. I was blown away by this album, but I only listened to it a few months ago; the others I've vaguely listened to are Obey time, one from 90/91... I agree on the special charm of LC, it’s also quite unique, hypnotic (I couldn’t change CDs in the car for months... and that rarely happens).

antoniodeste, which double live? I have a box, maybe a can-box, with CDs and VHS inside, but I've never seen live records...
Pink Floyd Animals
Voto:
To Doctor J, I don't know how you figured out that they get on my nerves, it’s not entirely true, but it comes close enough. I think they are one of the most overrated groups in history, at least the post-Barrett Floyd. They did some nice things, like the live at Pompeii, which I think is beautiful, but otherwise I find them cloying. For me, the greatest bands of all time are others, starting with the Beatles (65-69), then moving on to the Velvet Underground, King Crimson, Soft Machine, and others that I won't list. The Pink Floyd were decent musicians, but in the studio they were cold, nothing that hadn’t already been said in the album preceding the one you’re listening to (with the exception of those with Barrett).
Guns N' Roses Appetite For Destruction

Maybe I prefer Pooh to Guns... but is there still anyone out there listening to stuff like that? With the singer who used to walk around with a bottle of whiskey, but had cold tea inside it instead...
