It's always a pleasure to come across certain animals on debaser, there's a very varied fauna between wolves and macaques eheh ;) @Pietro: I'm glad there's someone who knows the album!

@LIGDJS: personally, I don’t have many other records by Carter, also because his production is truly vast; however, I recommend these titles, you can’t go wrong: Piccolo, Bass and I, Patrao, and Peg Leg. Pick'em and Super strings can also be found in a single 2001 edition from Milestone. Thanks for stopping by!

"The real is never given, but is always constructed": if this were the case, then what we call reality could not even be reconstructed, modified, and transformed; what do I reshape if I have nothing to start from? If we were to follow this thesis, documentaries like this would be useless, as they would only tell facts distorted by the observer.....but this doesn’t seem to be the case (even though I haven't seen it).

The band has always been divine, we'll see about this new record.

For me, this is truly a masterpiece: simple, essential, and spot-on graphics, beautiful soundtrack, intriguing story, and above all, an atmosphere that at the time was very hard to find in other products of the genre. The radio concept is brilliant.

For reviews concerning video clips like those of 42, it would be good to make both the band name and the director's name mandatory fields; after all, both are important, and including only one or the other means not making them complementary. The review, in the end, would end up in the ophthalmology section (I'm not sure if someone else has already had this idea; I've only read a few posts and not all. If that's the case, I apologize in advance).

The perfect soundtrack for an alchemical laboratory
Devin Townsend Project Ki
Voto:
Devin Townsend has changed, and Ki is the snapshot of the current state (artistic and otherwise...) of this crazy guy; he even shaved his head ;) Your perplexities are absolutely valid (and I had them too at first), but if we take a moment to get into the mindset of the album, it truly offers some great moments: the title track, coast, winter, and especially terminal (I wouldn’t overlook the intro to monday, which is really unique...). It’s only natural that those still attached to his past albums, whether with DTB or SYL, will be quite disappointed. I believe Townsend has never made an album like this: it completely breaks away from his past, introducing us to another dimension of his music, even if this transformation has happened gradually.... We will see about the other three albums.

The music video can be a universe unto itself, but only if we detach it from the music and focus on the images: in my view, it is the direct translation into another language of what the artist initially expresses through sounds, rhythms, melodies, harmonies, etc. It is fundamentally another way of interpreting the message that an artist wants to convey to us; for this reason, in my opinion, it is absolutely tied to the music, from which it takes its starting point, and without which our understanding of the music video would be partial and misleading... without music there is no music video, and without a music video, the music remains anyway ;) Ah, and then I think that when we are born, what arrives are not answers but rather, above all, questions: the child begins to open its eyes (in every sense) to a new reality that it has never experienced, finding itself in a completely different situation that it must try to understand if it wants to create a consciousness as it grows... if that were the case, I wonder why the child in the video is crying... perhaps it is aware of what awaits it? and how does it know? (there you go, the questions ;)). Review among my favorites; I apologize for the long and boring post.
