The Dillinger Escape Plan Ire Works
Voto:
An excellent album, for me. I understand your considerations, but in my opinion, those who expected something wilder and more metallic have been caught off guard: the DEP have now become a separate entity, changing their skin with each release. This album is disorienting precisely because it puts a lot on the table, and it takes quite a few listens to assimilate all this "meat".... Moreover, pop has always been present in their music (maybe it’s a bit more pronounced in Ire Works), but if the DEP can do it in such a unique and personal way, that’s more than fine with me! They aimed for something big, but they only partially succeeded: nonetheless, in my opinion, they’ve been part of history for a while now.... Rating: 4.5
Nevermore This Godless Endeavor
Voto:
I believe that giving this album anything less than five stars is impossible... "excellent ideas but not fully realized": I completely disagree, the ideas sown in the previous albums come to full fruition here, creating a sound that balances between thrash and prog, one of the most personal in circulation in the last ten years. The compositions are meticulously crafted, both in terms of songwriting and the sound of the instruments... not to mention the performance of every single musician (Jeff Loomis above all!!!). Guys, if we can still talk about metal done with class today, we owe it to bands like Nevermore.
Cripple Bastards Misantropo a Senso Unico

Saw them just last night opening for Necrodeath....really very good, tight and massive in execution, with rather diverse pieces that are not just hardcore. Truly impressive (and this is coming from someone who mainly went for Necrodeath).
Alchemist Spiritech
Voto:
The comparison with Tool is spot on, perhaps more with the latter than with Voivod or any metal group (while still acknowledging the clear metal influences). Alchemist is a separate entity in the worldwide metal scene, and this album is a masterpiece; nonetheless, they have not been unknown only in our country, but a bit all over the globe, and I can't help but think it’s due to their forward-thinking approach: for once, we are not the only ones left behind... Now that they are with Relapse, let’s hope they gain greater visibility.
Infection Code Intimacy

I've heard great things about this group; I believe they are among the few in Italy to offer certain sounds... I can understand the complexity of the IC's proposal, but you could have added a little something more. Still, the review isn't bad.

Very, very interesting this suggestion... congratulations! The title of the album, however, is fantastic.

Thank you for the advice, Jake. I listened to both albums (Thonk and Soliloquy) and I liked them a hell of a lot.

Good reception, I didn't know a new work by the good Justin had come out... and that the fiery Jarboe was also involved.
