Hannah Arendt La Banalità Del Male
Voto:
This work also invites us to reflect on what is truly good and what is truly evil.....if we did not do this, then we would slip into a disturbing triviality of principles, such as that of evil, leading to a form of mechanical automatism: doing evil would no longer be a problem and one would not distinguish good from evil, true from false, right from wrong. Killing would be like breathing or walking...
The Roots Rising Down

I'm not a regular hip-hop listener either, but The Roots definitely deserve absolute respect. They are among my favorite groups in this genre. Good review, I can relate to it...

But when is the new album coming out? Do we know the title?

I agree with what you wrote, although some vocal lines are intriguing in my opinion, and they are one of the elements that save the album from monotony. "Veins to the sky" is one of the best tracks on the album for me.
Ivano Fossati Musica Moderna
Voto:
I still have to listen to it, but the review by primiballi is exhaustive and I believe I’ve understood (at least in part) what he says...especially in light of Fossati's latest productions, which I have appreciated nonetheless. I think Fossati has now reached his own personal "point of no return," where essentially he is a different person (don't ask me how...) and consequently the music also reflects this attitude. Congratulations again for the review.
Johannes Brahms Ein deutsches Requiem
Voto:
"That this injection of bliss, moreover in a work that is ultimately about death, is gifted to us by a musician tormented by an exaggerated sensitivity...": those who are tormented are in search of something only they know, and often this "something" is the peace and serenity of the soul. This is why Brahms, as you rightly point out, had a strong sense of self-criticism (a quality in my opinion) and a marked restlessness that allowed him to never settle and thus remain true to his quest. As for the rest...5 ;)
Art Spiegelman Maus (Maus, A Survivor's Tale)
Voto:
Simply unique, Maus goes far beyond being just a comic book; it is a literary work... it is history, thus it holds high ethical value. Just read the title of the first chapter referenced in the review: "My Father Bleeds History," where the literal meaning and the metaphor coincide. I quote Kosmogabri, and congratulations on the review and the choice.
