I can give you a simple example: I had a band, we covered Metallica, Nirvana, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Rage Against the Machine, Smashing Pumpkins, Guns'n'Roses, Stone Temple Pilots, Faith No More, and a few others I can't remember... For anyone who makes music and believes they're doing it decently well (but that's subjective...), there's nothing worse than the judgment of the audience. Every time is a challenge, a different adventure, and you have to face people who might have prejudices about your music and might throw shit at you or not even consider you. It's truly humiliating when someone says: hey, you guys suck! Being on stage or in the studio is incredibly hard, engaging with people is extremely difficult, it's a fucking tough job, so groups like the Pumpkins (which I reiterate, have never blown me away, but as you can see I even sang something from their repertoire) deserve respect, beyond everything.
