Barks from Cornell?!? Barks from Cornell?!? Did I hear BARKS FROM CORNELL??!!?? Dude, "Hunger Strike" is one of the most beautiful pieces ever composed and it stands out precisely because of the interplay of the vocal parts. Cornell on this record reaches inhuman levels (just listen to the high note in "Say Hello to Heaven," "Call Me a Dog," the central part of "Reach Down," "Four Walled World," and "Wooden Jesus"). I'm not disputing that he might have had some "help" in the studio, but I assure you that to sing the songs of Temple of the Dog, you have to really work your ass off!! Shouting at those pitches (and, dude, I'm talking about an absolutely "FULL" voice, please don't bring up falsetto..), with that power, but above all maintaining complete control of the note is practically "almost" impossible. An immense album, made by people with two, if not three, square balls.. If only there were more people making barks like that.. Please dude, have someone good record your eardrums, because if you compare Cornell's singing (on this album, as well as in the early Soundgarden, up to Superunknown, although it was already declining there..) to barking, you have hearing issues.. No offense.. Even if you don’t like Cornell, you can't possibly think that he emits "barks" on this record. Great review, great choice, well done!

Well, honestly I think Kill 'Em All (Hetfield's singing was unbearable..) can't really be defined as a masterpiece; much better are …And Justice for All, Ride the Lightning, or Master of Puppets (great times when we covered it, alongside the legendary Fade to Black..).. They also came from classical studies anyway. As for the little kid bands, you need to specify which ones and what you mean by screams for their own sake.. If someone screams, they must have their reasons, right? And they'll be really angry.. If someone sighs orgasmically, they just want to get d...k in every possible hole, C.V.D. from the video of Baby One More Time and the deliberately chaste yet at the same time whorish outfit of the beautiful and very young, yet already so eager for …, Britney. Anyway, I have to agree with you that metal is the second movement where you’ve seen the most crap produced, also because, after pop, it’s the second most important movement of all time.. But considering that 98% (and I was being conservative..) of pop is crap purely for the sake of filthy money, 30% (maybe I was a bit generous) of metal is crap that hasn’t made a cent, and the other 70% has rightly earned its fame and money.. Metal compositions are sometimes complicated (Dream Theater, Tool, Mars Volta (even if they’re not metal) above all) on par with an opera.. Pop always relies on the same recycled nonsense..

Throw away all the metal albums and let’s go with kraut-rock! Look, I can agree that the art and symphonies of Beethoven are a step above Iron Maiden; perhaps the dizzying scales and guitar intertwining, along with Dickinson's vocals, indeed come from classical studies... Haven't you ever thought about that? Many metal artists come from conservatory backgrounds.. So, to me, metal seems like a rather cultured musical evolution (apart from some cases..), it’s a bit foolish to compare Britney to metal. Maybe you've exaggerated a bit. Besides, this is a site where I think most of the reviewers grew up with metal, rock, hard rock, electronics and various other nonsense, so it seems a bit out of place to expect reviews on Vivaldi, Mozart, and good old Ludwig.. If there's a masterpiece by the master par excellence to listen to, I don't disdain it, on the contrary.. I can only appreciate a compositional genius of such magnitude. Immortal and almost unreal works when you think that they were produced by a "human" mind.. Having grown up with metal in all its forms and derivatives, it would feel a bit outdated for me to listen to classical rather than a record by Iron if it were placed before me.. However, I don't think I lack reasoning; I don’t define myself as a metalhead (and what does being a metalhead even mean....), I don’t walk around with chains, padlocks, or jackets with patches of Iron or Metallica, I would feel a bit too exposed and I hate to appear, but I listen solely and exclusively to metal, and I can assure you that amidst the screams and orgasmic sighs, I prefer the former, even if they are self-serving..

Dickinson has been and will remain one of the most beautiful, powerful, versatile voices with enviable range for all singers. He could do an entire month of back-to-back concerts, one every day, and still maintain the same, identical voice without losing anything. He has so much to teach to most of those who today call themselves metal singers. It’s foolish not to recognize his value and potential.
