The last album packed full of covers, then luckily the two bosses will launch themselves as songwriters, and truly good and seminal records will come.
Historically it has its role, in those years of the transfer of rock 'n' roll from the USA to England, but still poorly played and sung.
Watts and Wyman nothing special, I’m with Beck who, when the Stones courted him to replace Jones, shot back with a nice "Call me back when you have a decent rhythm section."
Even in this review, there’s the usual mention of the Rolling bad boys, a myth created back in the day that’s hard to die and comes in handy to reaffirm how charming and attractive they are.
Exile is an album with few ideas and a shitty sound. They were in the French Riviera inside a villa, drunk as skunks, and the producer even more so, and you can hear it.
If they ever played one from Exile live, those songs, who knows why they never do.
All these myths about the Stones, a fundamental band for rock but for other reasons, continue to strike me, review after review, even though I don’t find them authentic.
Lennon and Ono were much more bad boys than Jagger and Richards. And more drugged.

That asshole of my poor friend Giorgio (d.2016) gave it to me for a birthday. I gave it away six months later for two thousand lire, added a thousand more, and bought a used copy of "What If" by the Dixie Dregs. Those are satisfactions.

The vain and stupid cover says a lot about this cosmic nullity of irritating narcissism.

Neil Young would definitely win an Italian referendum among the four... I was glad to see him on the news a few evenings ago, a small concert clip in which, ugly and more out of tune than ever, he really goes at it with his president Trump and mocks him properly.
