Tom Waits Closing Time
Voto:
I only heard Ol'55 from this (beautiful). For now, my favorite album from the early period of Tom's career is Blue Valentine (Someday, somewhere/We’ll find a new way of living/We’ll find a way of forgiving/Somewhere), but since his discography has not been short on surprises so far, I wouldn't be too surprised to hear another album that completely changes my "ranking." This man is fantastic.
Roberto Vecchioni Ipertensione

Ah, this is all about tastes! Personally, the songwriter I listen to most frequently is Guccini, whom I prefer, even if just slightly, to De Andrè (I melt every time I hear "la città intera che muta lanciava una speranza nel cielo di Praga" or Canzone di Notte n.2), but objectively I can't say he's on the same level as Faber. The thing that prevents me from fully appreciating Vecchioni is the music: here it's not bad, but in other albums, it always leaves a bitter taste in my mouth.

For many years, I have been accompanied by a visceral hate (which, as I can see, is common to many) towards Vecchioni. But now I recognize that he has written beautiful songs, especially on this album (the best of those I have heard). In my opinion (for the melodies, the lyrics, etc.), he is much closer in style to the early De Gregori, to be clear the one of "Alice non lo sa," than to De André. My favourite songs: Canzonenoznac, Pesci nelle orecchie, Canzone per laura.

In my area, they make a mess, but frankly, I can't stand it. I can barely tolerate some of the beginnings.

I must say that some time ago I tried to get closer to Dirk Wears White Sox, curious about the references to genres that usually resonate with me. I would have been better off not doing it…(de gustibus). Anyway, really a beautiful review (thanks to your writings on Rundgren, I got Something/Anything and I admit that I like it a lot).
Khan Space Shanty

I fully agree with everything that has already been said in the other comments about this album. The Khan, in my personal ranking of the Canterbury scene, are right behind Soft Machine and Gong. Truly original. There’s really very little kraut rock in here, just barely on the cover.
