Link Wray & The Raymen Mr. Guitar
Voto:
Yes, Wray and Eddy were certainly fundamentally important for surf music (even though they didn't exactly play surf), which they anticipated. But if we’re talking about ā€œleading figuresā€ or ā€œfathers of the genre,ā€ it’s imperative to mention Dick Dale, Surfaris, and Shadows rather than Wray. And anyway, even Dick Dale, who is now about 70 years old, still performs around the world, showcasing some truly insane performances (I've seen him myself, and he's a real maniac!).

great Link Wray, the pioneer of fuzz! But the ultimate exponent of instrumental surf is undoubtedly Dick Dale (known precisely as "the king of the surf guitar").
Dub Trio New Heavy

I've had it for a little while, but the more I listen to it, the more I like it. Original and inspired. I'm trying to get my hands on their first album ("Exploring The Dangers Of") but it's not an easy task.

Joe Strummer & The Mescaleros Global A Go-Go

Great review of an album that might be too underrated. IGNORE ALIEN ORDERS!

As Coppola said: "My film is not about Vietnam... my film is Vietnam." The best.
Tool Live @ Rimini, 15/11/06

I saw them on the 13th in Florence and it was an unforgettable concert: the lights, the lasers, the new (beautiful) videos in pure Adam Jones style, and a band definitely in the mood gave us an exceptional show! And to think that I had already been excited about the concert in Bologna... the setlist from Rimini counts for Florence too, but instead of "Lost Keys" they played "The Pot" (amazing!). However, next time I want "Eulogy" or "Third Eye"!
Melvins Electroretard
Voto:
What a festival! As far as I’m concerned, catching Melvins and Blue Cheer (and Big Business, and Porn) together would be a dream. I had actually planned a little trip to the Netherlands in the spring, maybe I’ll take advantage of it... too bad it’s in Tilburg: I’ve been there before and it’s really a dreary place (but don’t worry: at least there’s a coffeeshop!).

It's always a pleasure to read something about the Melvins! "Interstellar Overdrive" and "Youth of America" are exceptional, but I systematically skip "Shit Storm"...
AA.VV. Singles: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack

You are absolutely right about the comparison to Beverly Hills; the same kind of youth culture and clichés, a very sad film. Anyway, I remember that among the various songs that played, there was also "Dig For Fire" by the Pixies. Wasn't it included in the soundtrack?
