Stanley Kubrick 2001 Odissea Nello Spazio
Voto:
universal masterpiece and probably the highest peak reached by Kubrick's genius (but it would be fair to pay some tribute to that old pedophile Clarke, the credit is also his). Anyone who doesn't give it a 5 is a provocateur.
Peter Weir Picnic A Hanging Rock
Voto:
simply fabulous review, perfectly capturing the unsettling spirit of the film (which I agree with your judgment)
Alejandro Jodorowsky El Topo
Voto:
certainly an exceptional film, but for me the absolute masterpiece of Jodorowsky remains "The Holy Mountain"
David Lynch The Elephant Man
Voto:
unforgettable
Ruggero Deodato Cannibal Holocaust
Voto:
the best among the cannibal movies
William Friedkin L'esorcista (versione integrale)
Voto:
It's still "The Exorcist," damn it!
David Cronenberg La Mosca (The Fly)
Voto:
You’re right, Alias, the last one is definitely half-assed, it doesn’t even look like a Cronenberg film. He probably made it just to earn a bit of money after the flop of Spider (flop in the sense that it didn’t make much money, as a film it’s excellent). From what I’ve heard, it seems that Spider was a kind of downfall for him, since he lost a ton of $oldi...
David Cronenberg La Mosca (The Fly)
Voto:
From here arose the obsession with flesh, as is evident in his other films like "Scanners" and "The Fly". <-- I would also say, and especially, Videodrome... <-- I would even add more, The Brood (1975) and Rabid (1977), which are among his earliest films completely focused on the theme of bodily transformations/degradations.
David Cronenberg La Mosca (The Fly)
Voto:
beautiful, very beautiful; but Cronenberg has done even better (for me the best are Rabid, Il Demone Sotto La Pelle, and Videodrome). Still, a memorable film. Nice review!
Marco Ferreri La grande abbuffata/La grande bouffe
Voto:
superlative film, timeless masterpiece (when it was first shown, it was panned by critics and at the Cannes festival the audience drowned it in boos!).
