Spartans = Americans (handsome and valiant warriors) Athenians = Europeans (cowardly homosexuals and good for nothing) Persians = Afghans/Iraqis/Iranian (ugly and evil monsters). However, it should be noted that the comic is from '98 (so pre-September 11) and then it must be made clear that it does not claim to be a historical reconstruction (which would be completely off), but only the reconstruction of a legend.

Not bad, exactly as I expected. I liked it and it will probably be well-received by the gay audience, given the number of prominently displayed, oil-slicked bodybuilders. PROS: beautiful cinematography with golden hues; countless breathtaking battle scenes; it will almost certainly set the benchmark for all future epic films. CONS: too many slow-motion scenes; the whole part with the queen and the conspiracy is boring and interrupts the action; no psychological depth for the characters.

Jenifer is not exactly a masterpiece, but it's still better than all her recent films (and that doesn't take much). On the other hand, Pelts is only interesting because there are some rather gruesome scenes; the film is more or less on par with Jenifer.

I completely agree: the torture scenes are absolutely disturbing! But even Argento in his episode "Pelts" (from the second series) holds his own when it comes to disgusting/ghastly scenes!

Among Woody Allen's latest films, along with Match Point, this is the one I liked the most. I believe the Duke Ellington piece is "Sophisticated Lady."

The first 99Posse, those of Curre Curre Guagliò, were a genuine expression of that period (social centers, occupations...) and in fact I had memorized their first album back then (even though I'm not Neapolitan and I don’t like that dialect), but now it's been years since I listened to them. Later, Zulù turned out to be a hypocritical, inflated balloon lacking any credibility, but at the time...

Unfortunately, I've wanted to see Solaris for a long time, but I haven't managed to yet... I need to make up for it as soon as possible!

Hey zeroincondotta, why don’t you do a review of the film with the same name (the masterpiece by Jean Vigo from '33)?

Punisher, in fact Brazil could definitely fit into the top 5; I wouldn't include it, but I wouldn't be surprised to find it at the top, since it's a wonderful film. But Gattaca absolutely no... I mean, it's nice but nothing more, there are tons of better films. For me, the top 4 titles are "unquestionable" (a ranking of the best sci-fi films without Alien is inconceivable), at most I could put "The Day the Earth Stood Still" or "The Thing" (by Carpenter) in fifth place.

Given that in my opinion creating rankings of the best films is rather pointless (though fun!) because they are based on overly subjective evaluations, I can't resist and will start myself: 1) "Metropolis" 2) "2001" 3) "Alien" 4) "Blade Runner" 5) "Invasion of the Body Snatchers"
