Quentin Tarantino Jackie Brown
Voto:
the most conventional (and weak) film of Tarantino; the obvious tribute to the 70s blaxploitation (actors, characters, music), certain brilliant dialogues typically Tarantinian and the splendid performances of Jackson and De Niro (the former inmate dim-witted Luis Gara is truly a memorable figure) are not enough to make it a masterpiece. For me, a 3 and 1/2.

I only know him "by reputation"; in fact, I've been meaning to see him for a while now. I believe I can no longer postpone it.

Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs, Natural Born Killers, and the like probably would have never existed if it weren't for this film. An absolute cult classic.

In my opinion, your analysis is completely far-fetched; you watched it and didn't like it, fine. But to trash it by calling it "an abyssal piece of crap" seems absurd to me. Come on, a little objectivity! It may be a bit schematic, but the theme tackled and Bardem's masterful interpretation are enough to make it an exceptional film.

great film, tremendous McDowell. There's another film about Chikatilo, "Cittadino X," which in some ways is even better than this one.

My favorite Troma films are Tromeo & Juliet (the absolute best!) and Sergeant Kabukiman NYPD: must-sees! Of course, Rabid Grannies and Terror Firmer are not bad either... I also recommend Monster in the Closet, which, as far as idiocy goes, has nothing to envy from the best Troma films.

a film whose strength lies in its richness of details and atmospheres, whose main flaw is the story, excessively confusing and inconsistent

Well, did you expect an art film?

The director is talented and the film is definitely successful, something more than just a simple remake. It's a whole different thing compared to the recent wave of terrible remakes (like Texas Chainsaw Massacre, The Hills Have Eyes, Amityville, Omen, etc.).
