Babes In Toyland Fontanelle

Damn... these grunge rumors!... You know, I've actually never spoken with Courtney, not even with Kat... I always got the impression that the two of them had a pretty good relationship, so much so that Courtney often mentions Kat on more than one occasion... Anyway, in any case, congrats on the reviews... until next time.

Honestly, even though I like Babes in Toyland, I don't think they invented anything... they don't come across as particularly original to me. As for the rest, it's well known that Courtney Love and Kat Bjelland were close friends, since the days of Sugar Baby Doll... Courtney herself states, in several instances, that she was very influenced by Bjelland for various reasons. Bjelland also collaborated with Hole, writing perhaps one of the most beautiful songs of the aforementioned group, "Best Sunday Dress"... everything else is just hearsay...

The people who don't appreciate Nirvana for what they are, could that be me??...explain...do you know Nirvana better than anyone else to say that?..are they your personal property?...I think that art is beautiful precisely because it is like us, in the sense that in a work of art we find what we want, what we can based on our abilities, our sensitivity...I don't care about the grunge label, I told you, Nirvana represents something to me only because they have left a deep mark on my human development and not just musical. I’m not interested in sitting here discussing that people don’t understand them. I agree, but I approach it with a perspective of respect for those who, lacking the tools, come close to things like this...art belongs to everyone...even to those who don’t understand a thing. And see to it that you humble yourself, since you don’t even know me.

Look, it's you who started giving me advice on records to make me understand... "to clarify that 'grunge' has rather broad meanings and doesn't necessarily mean acid guitars and nonsensical lyrics"...therefore I conclude... Nirvana... are not grunge..(?!)...because in Italy, musical phenomena reach us in a distorted way and so we don't know about bands that have done more and better than them like Alice or Pearl Jam... am I wrong?.. Did I misunderstand?...

So what’s it got to do with me?... I only wrote a review about Verdena, and I think it’s clear that I didn’t label them as grunge. I didn’t intend to explain what grunge is, also because, in my opinion, it’s quite a subjective matter... for me, grunge represents inner concepts tied not only to a musical context but also to historical and psychological ones. If we want to reduce it to saying "listen to Pearl Jam because they do grunge" or "look how great Alice in Chains are," that doesn’t interest me. I’m not here to flaunt Nirvana’s superiority over other bands of the era... Nirvana represents something for me, especially on an inner level... it’s a personal thing. Whether Pearl Jam or Soundgarden play better is something I honestly don’t care about. I’m not a trained musician, so I’m not going to debate that. As for Layne Staley, all due respect, but objectively he never seemed as charismatic to me as Cobain; if we insist on holding onto values related to that character just because he didn’t sell as much as Cobain, it seems a bit dishonest to me. As for everything else, I agree on all points, but it’s clear that Italian music will never change, and this is true with or without Verdena...
