In the end, whether you love it or hate it, this is one of the most upvoted reviews, which makes us understand that wherever The Big C goes, there's a huge crowd following it.....very very very smart ;-)

"...Banhart was born in Texas in 1981, and named by an Indian mystic whom his parents followed. When his folks divorced two years later, he moved with his mom to Caracas, Venezuela, where he was raised amidst the shanties and sweatshops. Though his family had enough money to stay above the poverty line, life wasn't easy. I used to say he was young....."

PS with this I'm not deciding that the boy is another cloning phenomenon; on the contrary, it seems to me that he really believes it...

I should preface this by saying that I don’t know Devendra well enough, and for once I’ll say that he’s quite a looker (since the attractiveness of female singers is often used as a measure of judgment), so already for this reason I find him somewhat appealing. However, calling him a "phenomenon" seems a bit exaggerated to me; a phenomenon, for me (I reiterate, for me) is something truly exceptional, new, inspiring, etc. Instead, as Rodney emphasizes, Devendra "has remained in the warm summer of the late '60s" (I would have put "fascinated" between -remained and warm summer-, since I believe Devendra was born a few years later and experienced the '60s like all of us, through music and literature/films, etc., rather than through direct experience). His video reminded me of a video we shot with friends during our "trip"; the clothes, the atmospheres, and especially the sounds made me think of something deliberately faded, almost from another era, pleasant and intimate, filled with love for a bygone time, but at the same time lacking the strength that comes from the originality of experience and creativity.
