Not many rivals, the only superior manga is devilman, or probably violence jack.
It also competes strongly with berserk, or tiger mask.
It's an amazing manga.

there's not much quality it's not a matter of commercial, even Tiger Man is commercial, but Dragon Ball is certainly not at that level. Especially for the psychology and tension of the characters.

Dragon Ball, which I know very well both in anime and manga version, is an atypical subject........ It presents references close to mythic works like Ken Shiro (fighting and battling aura).......... but reality tells us that there is also a thesis of absurdity within it. From fake resurrections to the imprecise setting (why mix dinosaurs with capsule corps and time machines), to the five thousand transformations of Goku, Vegeta, Trunks, Gohan........ that make us understand how it must go this way. Anyway, as usual, the manga is better than the anime because it is less censored, and the rest is history.
