I've listened to zaaireka more than once with all four discs… I adjusted the volumes beforehand with another record, so they come out more or less the same! With all those silences and a thousand bangs of chaos, it's impossible to balance them right off the bat. I even took a course at a self-managed project at school a while back on zaaireka… there were six of us, few but good eheh :D Your invisible now with the right relaxation set becomes mind-blowing @_@

But I've said it too, but I don't really feel the similarities in this album :P

I agree with the comparison to Frank Zappa for the common spirit, but in "Drug Machine" I see more of the influence of Seattle's sound. The comparison to Pink Floyd always seems a bit forced to me. It fits well for the previous two (One Million Billionth etc. is clearly Pink Floydian), but I don't feel it in this album, I must admit. I believe the influence comes more from garage bands like the Stooges/MC5, and given Wayne's Zappa-esque style, I can't think of Van Halen... or even Jimi... sorry, I know I'm being pedantic, but I really care about the Flaming Lips :D At first, I wanted to give you a 4, but Parkinson made me mess up, so I'm averaging it out and giving you a 5! Anyway, the review is well written, nothing to say, just different points of view... trivial matters, really.

...and Friedmann as producer, don't forget, along with Nathan Roberts instead of the grumpy English. For me, this album is their peak, the perfect synthesis of everything they were and would soon become. Uah. And every time Rainin Babies starts, I can't help but sing at the top of my lungs, with results that are pretty much pathetic. Diiiis is mai preseeent tuuu de vuooorlll...I know that in two weeks I'll be thrilled only and exclusively for Hear it is, then for Trasmissions, then for Telephatic Surgery, and then for Clouds taste metallic, and so on...Long live the Flaming Lips! :D
