MGMT Oracular Spectacular

Well, for some light and silly listening, they're more than fine, especially at this time of year. For example, tomorrow evening I should go out with my beloved cousin (I've been trying for years), and in the car, I'll play this CD, and I'm sure I'll come home with another trophy to hang on the bed. It's also true that the "MGMT" toy risks breaking after a while. And breaking.

Great debut and excellent mention. These guys are truly furious pigs and are vying for the title against the Bassholes! 2008 is turning out to be an amazing year.

@Ghemison: Actually, I didn't say that Hercules Love Affair are similar to Vampire Weekend. The only thing that connects these groups is that there's quite a bit of hype around them, and they are presented as "the new wave" in 2008. And among them, I also include the Australians Cut Copy; do you happen to like them?

Very raw, dirty, and bastardly with plenty of Mike Patton's jarring interjections included, but it was fine that way. Back then, I listened to it until I was bored, the hilarious inserts from good old Patton, who in "We Care A Lot" sings a bit from a New Kids On The Block song, while at the end of "Epic" he wraps it up with "Pump Up The Jam" by Technotronic... a show!

Wuof! Aunt Bice, it's been a while since I read one of your reviews. The band in question didn't grab me at all, aside from the bangs, striped shirts, and various pretentiousness. @Psycho: MGMT are slightly better (a couple of tracks have the taste of the beach at sunset), and in the coming days, if I have time, I'll delve into Hercules Love Affair as well. In the meantime, the "yeah...yeah...yeah...yeah...yeah.. ." of Demon Cleaner is worth as much as all three bands put together.

"Uprising" is objectively superior to this, even though there are "So Much Trouble In The World," "Ambush In The Night," and "Survival" here, which are among my favorites by Robert Nesta Marley.

I place this among the 150,000 most important albums in the history of rock, no doubt about it!

All I had of them was "Risotto," and if I'm not mistaken, one song from that album was included in the soundtrack of "Sin City," where Jessica Alba dances, and dances, and dances, and dances...
