I think that Queen are so hated and loved because, if we look at the three musicians in Queen, they were just excellent musicians, but nothing more, while Freddie was the one who made the difference because he was truly an exceptional talent, possibly the greatest of all. Many detractors of Queen openly criticize the band, but almost always save the leader Mercury, specifying that he was a great frontman.
