Franco Battiato Dieci Stratagemmi
Voto:
Ten Stratagems is yet another stroke of genius that never ceases to amaze. The punch in the face of Hermeneutics, the poetry of Bastiani Fortress, the branded pop of Odore di polvere da sparo, the delirium of another era from 23 pairs of chromosomes, the intensity of I'm that. Almost perfect.

As a big fan of Battiato: this album is as brave as it is unbearable! But perhaps he was just messing with everyone when he released it.

If this isn't world music... Battiato puts together a fascinating album, played by excellent musicians, but stops just short of a masterpiece.

Beautiful but it could have been better. Three and a half.

A bad album where only two or three songs are worth saving and no more than that. It would be a 1 if it weren't for Under Pressure.

It's not the masterpiece that the review describes (so what would Innuendo be???) but it's not the garbage that others portray either. Light years ahead of the dreadful Hot Space. Good.

Indeed, I emphasize this to avoid any doubts: Vecchioni's arrangements on albums like Samarcanda, Calabuig, and the subsequent ones are excellent, and they remain so until Ippopotami, when the production becomes really too heavy. Anyway, I truly appreciate the review on Roberto, a highly underrated artist. Goodbye.

To average a 3.5, I'll add a nice 4. Just Sestri Levante is enough to justify the purchase of the record. And the cover by Paz.

I'm not voting on the review, but I want to point out a significant oversight. It is incorrect to list Zarrillo and Vanoni as collaborators on Ricetta di donna, as it is nothing more than a cover that Vecchioni includes (cinematically) in the context of the album, just like he does with the piece by Nino Rota. I also disagree with the hasty introduction regarding singer-songwriter arrangements. One can agree in a very generic sense, but how can we not mention Battiato's mastery? And dismissing De André, who benefited from the collaboration of people like Nicola Piovani long before the PFM phase, is unjust. Listen to Non al denaro non all'amore nè al cielo and then let's talk again about poor arrangements. The album, however, is beautiful, that’s for sure, and let’s give Paoluzzi and Romano all the credit they deserve.

Great album, one of the band's best. It shares the top spot for the best Queen work of the 70s with A Night At The Opera, and excuse me if that's not enough.
