Pink Floyd The Dark Side of the Moon

(I want to clarify that it's not bad in the sense of "unpleasant" to read; quite the opposite) I recommend you get the DVD on Dark Side Of The Moon where the band members discuss the creation of the album, going into detail about individual musical parts that are performed live by the various Gilmour, Waters, and Wright; it’s part of the Classic Albums series and you should be able to find it easily. If you're interested in learning more, it's definitely worth it.

@pep: I'm harsh on the PF, but frankly, after the tenth review on DeBaser hearing saxophones mistaken for trumpets, randomly shooting down the origins of On The Run, and not a word about the themes of the album (far from the moon), with assorted vagueness and inaccuracies (Harvest is an EMI label and the cover is by Hipgnosis) makes me say that such an important album does not deserve this treatment. On the other hand, you show a healthy enthusiasm, and I'm sure that over time you'll discover so many things about this record that you can't even imagine. Then perhaps you'll agree with me on why your review is, without malice, inadequate.

I totally agree with primiballi, especially regarding Mogol. @voiceface, but primiballi didn’t say at all that an excellent packaging must necessarily correspond to a poor content.

The fact is that out of all the reviews on Dark Side on this site, there's not a single positive one, it's almost unbelievable.

Ah, and then I forgot, here we're not talking about the moon, we're talking about man.

However, the VCS3 loop on "On the run" is made by Gilmour, not by Waters. And should we talk about the "trumpets" in "Us and them"? Where do you hear the trumpets??? And anyone who doesn't mention Wright and Mason when talking about Dark Side is definitely to be excommunicated. Superficial and imprecise.

There are people around who really should take out a loan to buy a little sense of irony. Too bad they don't sell it at the market.

Oh, and I almost forgot the pure 5.1 sound that, I don't know about yours, but on mine there really wasn't.

I haven't had the patience to read all the comments, but I would like to ask those who criticize the DVD release if they still watch movies on the VHS tape chewed by the cat and if they criticize, I don’t know, Warner for re-releasing Kubrick's films on DVD. What a vile commercial exploitation! What a shame when we could just as well move on with the old super 8! There is a big difference between the 28th collection of Dalla and the first DVD edition of a Floyd concert after Pompeii; it seems evident to me. Putting them on the same level feels like surrendering to the cliché of "vile commercial operation." Furthermore, a great job has truly been done here from a technical quality perspective, something that unfortunately cannot be said for all the musical DVDs currently on the market. Just to make a point, take the DVD of "La Cura" by Battiato: it has the same video quality as the scratched VHS it was transferred from; that’s where you should get angry, that’s true exploitation. Not an excellent and necessary product like this one.

Thanks again to everyone. I find that the quality of the three albums is truly very consistent, and I also believe it's normal for there to be quite strong personal preferences given their absolute diversity. For example, I have a definite weakness for Bawlers, but objectively the other two are no less successful. Bastards is the most challenging, while on the contrary Brawlers seems to be the most accessible. Maybe. @Zaireeka the game is indeed nice, but if I may make a small comment about the booklet, it’s that it doesn’t include any notes on the origin of the individual tracks.
