I wanted to talk about it, okay, I’m sending the samples to highlight the otherness of this 'monster' compared to the (great) albums of Walker from the late '60s - the tracks, in any case, vary a lot, wandering in the abyss... for sure, it takes steady wrists and balls of steel for this stuff...

Naturally, the music is not particularly original: joking with friends, I noted that 'la notte se n'è andata' sounds like something from Ladri di Biciclette and 'pioggia di novembre' like a Gino Paoli song... but I like it overall, especially his stories: they are theatrically over the top (often), but it’s a distortion of reality from a drunken gaze, sometimes subtle, but above all capable of redrawing the derelict reality in a delightful way, making life more bearable and beautiful, much like the hyperboles (different, but I refer to the attitude) of the protagonist in 'Big Fish' by Burton; in this context of 'theatrical' redefinition, I find his distorted voice fitting (aha topo gigio, it’s true, but it’s transforming for the better, see 'canzoni a manovella'); to this, I add a strong sympathy for the character, I’ve seen him live twice (in addition to watching one of his DVDs) and he is truly captivating and profoundly 'human' for me... when I talk about subtlety, I’m referring to pieces like 'morna' and 'le case', which, still in line with a romantic redefinition of the real, seem to me to have sharp lyrics... if one has ever lived situations similar to those described in 'al veglione', it’s easy to approach them with pleasure (I have never personally met the characters of Tom Waits...)

Well, I love this album viscerally, like, from the gut... just like I've never been able to fully fall in love with Waits, I'm trying to sort things out in my head...

Wow, what did you study, miss? I’ve always really liked the covers and the elaborate photos by Vaughn (or Vaughan, I don’t know?).

mmm... anyway, it's true that they get boring quickly... on the first listen of 'thought' I was thrilled, it seemed fresh and interesting... I looked for the second one, and thanks to its catchiness, I soon got fed up... the third one, the last, made me lose interest on the first listen...

Well, but these are the famous THE BOOKS, not the book... am I being pedantic? (better 'thought for food' for me - the previous one - but here we have the fantastic 'take time' with a beautiful line borrowed from a Pasolini film); in fact, they are not that 'difficult', especially this one is easier than 'thought...'; then, to summarize, the description John Fahey + Mouse on Mars seems quite spot on, considering that it's a duo made up of a skilled folky guitarist and a cut-and-paste enthusiast with a laptop, both passionate about 'found' phrases and sounds...
