Alè, three days late... and yet here I am. I was there too, I deserved a mention in the review, damn it! Anyway, the concert was (like the one a few months ago) really nice starting from the already tested choice of being in the middle of the crowd; this one was more energetic, I wanted more ballads, more slow songs and also Stef's trendy little dance pushed someone to say "he looked like the guy from the Scissor Sisters," taking the chance to criticize and point out how much cooler the singer of !!! was live (I noted, at that point, that the guy moved like someone from Saranno Famosi, controversies etc.). All this just to write something again, I almost wanted to do the review, but I would have talked little about the Zita... Well done Trell, regards to _ friend_ and... oh, we caught you Mita!

...generalizing about indie is a bit of an exaggeration: besides the fact that 'indie' is a rather vague adjective, I can mention Battles (who, to be honest, I think are a bit terrible…) as an example of an indie band (in the strict sense, meaning they are not signed to a major) that is definitely original; an example of an original indie band that I like: Don Caballero (now disbanded).

Well... anonymous friend, as I said months ago, this album has a calm mood and, I would add, its very understated nature is one of its main merits for me; this translates to (this is absolutely true) an album that is not particularly original, it's 'personal', it has the dignity of a genre novel that is not trivial... the samples alone are not enough in this case, you need to listen to it in full, and maybe more than once...

Well, thank goodness etc., you missed the mark a bit; you probably have never listened to them, because at full volume they do not use elaborate phrases (meant in the sense of convoluted or strange) at all, they really use those simple words and strong images that you mention; the stories, more than lyrics, of the singer are quite minimalist...

Indeed, good job JoP, I also lingered a lot on the idea of writing about this album, in the end I found it easier to just give it away (you’re welcome, josi_ ;))... I like having a personal interpretation different from my own; as for me, I’m very attached to "Ghosts...", starting from the cover with its hypnotic charm; then, especially, it’s really Kozelek’s voice, in a higher register than usual, that makes me enjoy it: it's a mental rabbit hole, but I like to imagine him a bit more determined to 'ride' life rather than inclined to be trampled on... every time I listen to "Glenn Tipton" and the stories he hints at, I can't help but feel chills... haloa

Yes, great album... it's true that I don't know the others from Happy Mondays (only Black Grape besides this one) but some later albums have been strongly advised against to me; as for some earlier ones, I don't know... I just know that this one is a bomb (I know it was produced by Ican'trememberwho dj, who, they say, was instrumental to the final result...); matter of lifestyles: I didn't live 'in real time' Madchester; I was a kid, I only remember a few nice videos of the Stone Roses from that time but, anyway, some nice photos of them had their influence at least in pushing me to try acid and pills ;)
