Dream Theater Images And Words

Progressive music in general has less groove than three-chord rock or hard rock, and it's of such complexity that, trust me, it requires tremendous effort from those who play hard rock, blues, rock, or metal. In fact, even bands like Yes (see Yessongs) are quite stiff on stage, because no one says they are cold. For me, the fact is this: nowadays, the coldness of the Theater is a common saying, a cliché, that's all.

I would like someone to kindly explain to me what makes the Theater cold: why they don’t have monkeys on stage, why they don’t smash guitars, or what? I would like to understand exactly what the difference is between the Theater, Yes, Floyd, and King Crimson, just to name a few of the usually celebrated bands, in terms of stage presence, considering they are all immobile.

Well, the review is well-written but a bit sterile.. after five reviews, it's hard to say something that hasn't already been said. The album is simply perfect, eight sensational tracks in their heterogeneity: the Theater, despite producing other great albums and true masterpieces, will never reach such levels of excellence again, in my opinion.

Well, Joe Strummer, this time I don't agree with your judgment, while still saying that I really liked your review, even though I don't share the overall assessment.
Of course, many of the things you say are understandable, like the fact that the soul of the album is purely punk, even though the expressive form is, as usual, sublime like the Floyd. However, I don't agree that it's non-essential: in my opinion, it is, as it shows a side of the Floyd that is often overlooked. And then musically, it’s one of the most cohesive and balanced albums I've ever heard. Dogs is the absolute best of the bunch, although, perhaps you’re right, if it had been shorter, no one would have complained.

The review is excellent Joe Strummer, clear, precise, and impeccable; however, it doesn't beat the one on "The Velvet Underground and Nico," which excited me, to say the least. So it's a five but not like the other. The album is formidable, fantastic, legendary, but I prefer Selling, even if the latter cannot boast the compactness of the former. Well done.

@fusillo: Perfect then, the matter is closed, I misunderstood. And anyway, I will continue to read your reviews, I hope in the next comments to remember this discussion to avoid repeating the same criticisms. :-).
Regarding the "attendance" at the reviews, I have a slightly different point of view: for me, it is important to be read and commented on (always in an intelligent manner, of course), maybe this is where the difference in our views comes from. If there’s one thing that gives me pleasure, and that I eagerly await from the publication of my review onward, it’s the influx of intelligent comments capable of sparking interesting discussions and centrifuges.

@odradek: Yes, those are mainly suggestions aimed at professionals who write on the Web, or in other words, those who have the NECESSITY to capture the reader's attention and retain them on that page for their work. In fact, no one is obligated to follow them (I myself clarified this in one of my latest posts), but it seems to me that trying to adhere to them as much as possible is the best choice: after all, as a reader before being a reviewer, they seem quite sensible to me, and the staff's decision to generally align with those principles is, for me, an additional confirmation of the value of those guidelines.

Regarding Fusillo, it seemed to me that I detected a hint of irritation in one of his responses, but evidently, if the person concerned contradicts me about this, it means I misread between the lines and everything is as it was before. Also because my criticism was a friendly one, stemming from personal taste; it certainly did not claim to be scripture, as my somewhat impetuous tone might have suggested.

The insistence on my positions was due to being misunderstood about the concentration capacity of the site's readers, which, in my opinion, and unsurprisingly, is extremely varied. So I reiterated the concept that I felt I hadn't expressed well, namely, that concentration for readers on the web is typically more difficult, etc. As for the rest, I perfectly understand your position and, in particular, Fusillo’s: one writes for pleasure and not for work, so everyone writes as they wish. Perfect, I share that; I said it too!

Then there are the most overrated songs, and I really just can't stand them, like Dieci Ragazza and so on...
