At times following the discussion, I find it, as often happens, a bit sterile. I can't fully agree with anyone, so I'll add a personal opinion (though unwarranted, I expect a chorus of "who cares"). I love Queen and I understand Poletti, who, not appreciating them, wrote a review full of inaccuracies. Take the origin of "Radio Ga-Ga," for example. If you notice, the next line says "Radio bla bla," indicating emptiness. "All we hear is Radio Ga-Ga, Radio Goo-Goo, Radio bla-bla" means we're surrounded by a world of words spoken for no reason, to use a down-to-earth term. And I wouldn't want to make a mistake by going too far back in memory, but Freddie said this in an interview. And then, are you really convinced that the Wembley audience thought they were witnessing a colossal load of nonsense? Or that they were being served fluff? True, they might have been commercial and charming; Mercury knew how to be appealing like few others, but the comparison to JM doesn't hold up. Freddie never proclaimed himself a guru or prophet of a cursed generation; Freddie provoked and often just for the sake of it, but nothing more.
