I also link an extremely interesting article about Don Carlo, particularly focusing on the figure of Philip II (and his interpreters) from the best site on Opera and its surroundings of all time: Don Carlo: sei personaggi in cerca di cantanti. Terza puntata: Filippo II (e il Grande Inquisitore) | Il Corriere della Grisi

I really enjoy the DVD of the version conducted by Muti in the '80s with Pavarotti, Samuel Ramey, Dessì, and Zeffirelli's direction. I also like Karajan's live version at the Salzburg Festival (I think '55...) with the Wiener and Cesare Siepi, Fernandi, Bastianini, and Sena Jurinac... Ghiaurov the best Philip II ever? Who knows, with talent like this (of course I'm only linking a few): not to mention those we can’t listen to due to age reasons, how can you choose the best?

I'm sorry, but I cannot access or translate the content of that link.

I imagine that the correct title is the one on the poster.

I didn't know anything about it, so thanks for the tip. Lately, I've watched several films by Von Trier that I missed in the theater. I liked them all. Since you mentioned it, in Nymphomaniac, besides everything else (...), there's a spectacular Uma Thurman. I will definitely watch this.

So "Sledgehammer" is whiny and "dark"?

Great film! (Uma Thurman is spectacular)

…"played in Benny Goodman's band (so with Gene Krupa)" ---> and Teddy Wilson...

Bad film, poorly written, with no beginning or end. Worse than the apocryphal second part of Avellaneda.
