Odradek, I wanted to say that I saw Dulce live "a few years ago," not "a few years ago"...

@No to the disgusting: in my opinion, De-baser hit rock bottom with your comment and with that of the fake Giorgio Gaber. The real Giorgio Gaber was a great actor, a great singer, a great provocateur, and a great writer. Loved both on the left and the right. I don’t have the double DVD, but if what it contains is the show recorded in '91 that I saw on TV, I would give it a five without many problems. I would give it even without having seen it because I know the performances I’ve heard on CD. The review, Iside, is a bit sparse and doesn’t delve deeply into the social, political, and human issues raised by Gaber and Luporini; but it’s also true that adequately addressing the subject wouldn’t be enough with just one book...

Visited the Panoramics' site: I will no longer identify them with the druid of the magic potion. Among other things, the reference fits perfectly since they collaborated with Andrea Renzi, a talented actor from Mario Martone's company, which also includes (or used to include?) Toni, Peppe Servillo's older brother. Thank you for your comment, which is almost a review. Bye.

Odradek, I don't mind at all. And if you tell me you like Dulce, I can’t help but praise your good taste. I saw her live a few years ago. She sang brilliantly and never stood still. She danced and sang for two straight hours. On stage today she’s a bit more static... Maybe it's her age. Anyway... I remember that at the end there was a guy who wanted to give her flowers, and as she took them, she hugged and kissed the guy in a way that almost seemed like she was assaulting him... Good and generous Dulce. And her wonderful records...

The review is as passionate as I have always found the music of Area. Yet, like with Isis, I've never fully liked them. After a while... My score would therefore be negative, but I abstain out of respect for their passion. As for the reference to Led Zeppelin, Demetrio Stratos and all the Area members must have sincerely spoken ill of the music industry. Many did so at the time. But that didn't prevent Area from being part of it, albeit with an elitist attitude; and consider that a prominent member of the band, Ares Tavolazzi, played in 1977 (right in the middle of the Area period) on the album "Atlas Ufo Robot" and subsequently in other projects that were not exactly artistic. So, as they say, there’s a gap between saying and doing, which includes m(angi)are. Oh, let it be clear that I haven’t called Ares a Sellout; I actually consider him one of the best bassists around in Italy. Furthermore, the vinyl "Atlas Ufo Robot" is one of the treasures of my childhood. Has someone already reviewed it? Almost...

@odradek: the only thing that connects the albums by Lila and Dulce is that both play traditional music from their respective countries, trying to modernize the sounds through the use of keyboards or electronic drums. Then it’s clear that they are very different. I even mentioned in the comment that the comparison with Dulce might not have been very relevant. As for the mariachi: see, I was right?!?

I'm in agreement with Panella, who could ruin anyone even morally (like Oxa at the latest Sanremo). I disagree about Battiato, at least until he wrote his own lyrics. Then, during the Sgalambro period, there are genuine gems (La cura) and lesser works (L'ombrello e la macchina da cucire). By the way, the name Panoramics or Panoramix only makes me think of the bearded druid from Asterix and Obelix. Can you tell me who they are?

While you were undecided about the drinks (for me, a corona, please), I got hold of the record in question. It's great, and the electronic drums don’t bother me. Even Dulce Pontes (who may not be very relevant) used them in her first CD (Lagrimas), and that doesn't diminish its quality. In fact, I like to think that in some remote corner of Mexico, there could be a little mariachi band using it, perhaps hiding it under one of those wide-brimmed sombreros that those jolly fellows wear on their heads. Lila's voice is beautiful!

I would give this album a four as well, but only for the music. In my opinion, the band's weak point is the lyrics; I remember a track from "Finalmente Fiori" that, quoting from memory and potentially getting it wrong, said: "Finalmente lo spazio, anche se ammobigliato, abbicchierato, attazzato... con i telefoni che han già mille voci inquirenti, che ci domandano quando si dorme: un vicino d'orecchio ti ha sentita volare..." Now, what the hell could that possibly mean? This album suffers from the same issue ("Prerogativa di un oracola deità..."). In my opinion, Avion shines in their covers, that is, when the songwriter is not Servillo, but someone who can do it better than him: especially "Cosa sono le nuvole" and "Storia d'amore." Great live: I saw them perform in my area. Even though it was free, there were only a handful of us in the audience, and they delivered a fantastic performance. Much respect to those who behave that way.

Well, I think we should take little-known prog rock bands with a grain of salt. Especially the Italian ones like "Biglietto per l'inferno" that I’ve heard and seemed rather lackluster to me. This also goes for some English bands. However, I’ve never heard the Gracious, and you never know, they might be the exception.
