Stoopid, nobody recommended them to you, so I’ll do it: "Trick of the Tail" and "Wind and Wuthering," the first two albums without Gabriel and the last really good ones. Then "Seconds Out" is an extraordinary double live album. In fact, if I were you, I’d start here. There are tracks from both the earlier works and from "Trick..." and "Wind and...". You can safely ignore the subsequent albums, except for the self-titled one from 1983, which is nice.

Thank you friends for your comments: just two things: @Vi this album was released in 1987. @hobbit: regarding the "naked" versions of Nick's songs, I also want to point out "Made to Love Magic" (there's a page on deb with some samples), where you can hear "River Man" without the arrangement by Harry Robinson that Nick didn’t like at all: in fact, he later called Robert Kirby to finish "Five Leaves Left".
