Great review: I completely agree... definitely an enjoyable album!
King Crimson The ConstruKction Of Light

Great review Egli. Simple and immediate... but it says everything it needs to say. - I completely agree with your second paragraph. This album is the most influenced by Belew's extravagant fantasy, and for this reason, it can be partly linked to "Three Of A Perfect Pair"... of course, when it comes to KC, comparisons are always to be taken with a grain of salt given the differences in era and style. However, I like "The ConstruKction Of Light": it is undeniably inferior to the excellent "Thrak" (especially technically, due to the absence of Bruford and Levin), but it is a notch above "The Power To Believe". - My favorite tracks: the title track and "Larks' Tongues In Aspic Part IV". The bonus track "Heaven And Earth" comes from "ProjeKct X", a sort of <<lato oscuro>> of "The ConstruKction Of Light".

I find it inferior to Gabriel's classic albums, but it's always a pleasure to listen to it! Great review.

Immense... I agree with the definition "progressive apotheosis" given by Pibroch!

I would rate the album again: the rating I would give it would be 3 and a half stars.

As a die-hard admirer of King Crimson, I regret to say... but, from my point of view, this album isn't that special. The great moments (like the exhilarating "Dangerous Curves" and the sharp "Happy With What...") are there, but overall, the album doesn't satisfy me. - Let's move on to the review: honestly, I can't understand what disappointment their fans encountered in the '90s: "Thrak" is a fantastic album and the best of the latest incarnation of KC, and even the enjoyable "The Construkction Of Light" seems a notch above this. Now, it's not that I want to be nitpicky (especially since everyone has their own tastes, and I think it's right to respect them), but it seems strange and a little inconsistent to me that you label "Discipline" with a <<it's not a masterpiece>> and then you go on at length about an honest but almost soulless work like "The Power To Believe."

Thank you JethroZappa for this information... I really didn't know that! I'm curious to hear if they played it like the original or if they made any changes...

As a debut, it's decent (let’s say 3... actually, let's make it 3 and a half), but Yes have done much better. The following "Time And A Word" is a step above "Yes". An essential band! - It's interesting that we recently performed "Every Little Thing" live (I have it on the DVD "Songs From The Songas") - Excellent review, short but very rich... I can see I missed it last week: not a big deal, I'll catch up now!

Wow! I missed this one... I haven't checked DeBaser for a couple of days. Anyway, I congratulate you again (as always). I only have "In And Out Of Focus," and if you tell me this one is better, I'll rush to get it!

This "Firefly" is an absolutely amazing album... the best of the Lawton era, and one of the best in the entire Heep discography! "The Hanging Tree" is stratospheric, then there’s "Been Away Too Long"... etc. etc.: in short, everything is really beautiful! Even the two simpler tracks ("Who Needs Me" and "Do You Know"), in my opinion, do quite well - The review is well written, but you seem a bit too stringent in judging it as the last valid album by Heep: from my point of view, what you describe as <<Lawton’s viagra effect>> lasts only for this album... the next two, "Innocent Victim" and "Fallen Angel," are pleasant but nothing more. For example, "Abominog" with Peter Goalby is infinitely superior to the last two from the Lawton period. The same applies when we compare "Innocent Victim" and "Fallen Angel" with the very latest "Sea Of Light" and "Sonic Origami." In short, I repeat, I would be cautious in defining them as <<creatively impotent>> from '78 onward...
