Printed in Germany in 1975 on a beautiful orange vinyl, this record perhaps represents Stewart's most complete work, halfway between the spontaneity and immediacy of his early works and the craft and cunning of our artist's later artistic lives.

Rod Stewart started as a Rhythm & Blues singer in London clubs, beginning after abandoning a promising football career in his native Scotland. He increasingly refined a personal style, voice, and charisma, and in a short time, Rod Stewart won over listeners across Europe. A rough and gritty voice, a great ability to engage, had captivated the European audience until the early 1970s; now the challenge for Stewart was the States. A challenge met with "Atlantic Crossing", an album that tells a story from its very title.

This album is a true watershed in Rod Stewart's career, the approach to the USA, the rapid rise to success would soon transform Rod into a star of show business and gossip. Originally a credible and solid interpreter of American tradition, Stewart became increasingly a drifting star between 1970 and the following decade, more and more an acclaimed figure of the starlet system and increasingly distant from the rock music that marked his origins. Rod Stewart's most popular albums (Do ya think I'm sexy & Co.) are actually the least representative and do not maintain the dignity and excellent level of works like "Atlantic Crossing"; they were those commercial operations to which Stewart only lent his face. It would take until the '90s to find a fresh-faced Rod, free of any embellishments and desires, in the album "Unplugged & Seated". A record rich in the talent and enthusiasm that never waned and the great songs composed in the early years of his career with the Small Faces and Ron Wood.

"Atlantic Crossing", as I said, marks the transition from Great Britain to the United States of America, signs a refinement of sounds, a better production and direction of the work. Stewart in great form alternates Rock moments with more bluesy and Soul ones. There are gems of genuine beauty, songs born to quickly become classics of international tradition, consider Sailing, Still love you, I don't want to talk about it, It's not the spotlight. Also noteworthy is Drift away with its nice fuzzy-reggae, Stone cold sober and All right for an hour which are two of the most lively moments of the record. A multiple, well-assorted, extremely polished work, still a child of analog sound and production, far from the electronic distortions of the following years. Finally, a work of good songwriting that never lets the interest and attention drop and keeps a certain emotional tension alive, a record that, when listened to again today, decades later, still gives that lovely feeling of fresh bread.

On vinyl, this album today reaches a value of 40-60 euros, and this is the best rating it can receive.

I don't wanna' talk about it
How you broke my heart
If I stay here just a little bit longer
If I stay here won't you listen
To my heart, my heart.

If I stand all alone
Will the shadows hide the
Colors of my heart
Blue for the tears
Black for the night's fears
The stars in the sky
Don't mean nothin' to you

They're just a mirror.

I don't wanna' talk about it
How you broke my heart
If I stay here just a little bit longer
If I stay here won't you listen
To my heart, my heart

like a bird, 'cross the sky.
I am flying, passing high clouds,
to be with you, to be free.

Can you hear me, can you hear me
through the dark night, far away,
I am dying, forever crying,
to be with you, who can say.

Can you hear me, can you hear me,
through the dark night far away.
am crying, forever crying,
to be with you, who can say.

We are sailing, we are sailing,
home again 'cross the sea.
We are sailing stormy waters,
to be near you, to be free.

Oh Lord, to be near you, to be free.
Oh Lord, to be near you, to be free,
oh Lord
