Genesis We Can't Dance

"We Can't Dance," from my point of view, is a good album (it's obvious that comparisons with the Gabriel era can no longer be made!) if considered in the pop realm... I find "Driving The Last Spike" and "Fading Lights," for example, very interesting. "Dreaming While You Sleep" and "No Son Of Mine" (even though I would have preferred the excluded "On The Shoreline" instead of this one) are also enjoyable to listen to. If they hadn't included a good number of mediocre songs (namely "Never A Time," "Tell Me Why," "Hold On My Heart," and "Since I Lost You"), I would have gladly given it a 4!

The album, for me, is enjoyable to listen to... it's certainly a big thud when compared to the previous "Chocolate Kings." "Meridiani" and "Peninsula" are spectacular... but other tracks (like "Left-Handed Theory," "Traveler," etc.) are also quite pleasant to listen to. A flaw, in my opinion, is Lanzetti's voice: at times it feels too forced and shaky compared to the previous album. - The rating for the album would be 3.5, but for PFM, I round up!

A very pleasant review for an album that, in my opinion, is acceptable. Beautiful "BatDance" and "Trust"... the others are a bit uneven (perhaps the slow ones are indeed a bit too mushy) but acceptable.

Finally London, I cross paths with you again in a review... in the meantime, I take this opportunity to greet you. However, I wanted to say that, in my opinion, "Love Beach" shouldn't be completely tossed aside if we consider it as a pop album (am I the only one who thinks so?!?): I would give it a passing grade. I completely agree, though, on "Tormato" which, apart from a couple of tracks, I just can't digest - Maybe I'll download this "Passpartù," just out of curiosity.

Look Robert, I would recommend the other two LPs from the '80s (but if you tell me that you didn't like "Discipline," I'm not sure how interested you might be in "Beat" and "Three Of A Perfect Pair"). If, on the other hand, you want a good album from the period after the '80s, I highly recommend "Thrak" (with the double trio lineup!)

What can I say? I simply love this album. It’s immense: the title track is something unimaginable (I go crazy when I listen to the solo on "Mass"), and even the often criticized side B is not bad at all: even a purely filler piece like "Jeremy Bender" works like a charm!!

A review that is definitely rich in details and very well written, congratulations! I can't comment on the album since I haven't listened to it yet: I'm still stuck on "Jet Lag" (and as you rightly say, it’s not exactly the best... even though it does contain some good tracks, in my opinion).

A good debut, but the group's potential will truly manifest with the next "Salisbury" (really a masterpiece!). Still, on this album, we find some excellent songs like "Gypsy," "Dreammare," etc. - A short but pleasant review: I didn't know the information about the spoon (could it be that they removed the noise in the final mixing?). As for the cover, I don't think it's that well-known. Roger Dean's covers, on the other hand, are famous :-)

Excellent review (just like the other one!)... here we have another great showcase from Simple Minds: it may be slightly below "Sons And Fascination," but it still remains an excellent album. Stratospheric "Theme For Great Cities" and "The American."

Very well done, Paolo... I completely agree with you on the value of "Sea Of Light" and "Sonic Origami." After a period that wasn't bad, but a bit too focused on easy-listening (let's say from "Equator" to "Different World"), they released these two gems! – One question... are you one of the contributors to uriah-heep-italia.com? It seems I've read your name quite a few times on that site...
