Excellent analysis, I agree with almost everything. The album is acceptable, yet it fails to make a significant impact. The ideas are there, the musicians' talent is too... however, everything is developed in a lackluster and confused manner: it seems like they settled for just “doing the homework.” Nevertheless, the homework is (fairly) good and it is enjoyable to listen to.
The Who The Who By Numbers

Undoubtedly a high-quality record... even if, in my humble opinion, the Who have done better. Still, listening to them is always a joy for the ears!

Great review. I agree with the concise comment left above by the good Pibroch!

Great review, as always! From this album, at the moment, I only remember a handful of tracks (so for now, I'll skip the rating since I don't have an overall view of the work)... they seem to have softened quite a bit compared to the previous record, yet without sacrificing quality. I will definitely listen to it again. - PS: the cover is spectacular!

@Giola: I think he is referring to the first feature film by the great John Carpenter...

Genesis From Genesis to Revelation

They were still unripe and uncertain. Fortunately, with the following "Trespass," they made an extraordinary leap in quality. There are some pleasant tracks, but overall the album is tremendously lackluster (2 and 1/2 stars, I'd say): I won't rate it because it feels heavy to give a failing score to the Genesis.

Not bad at all, I really enjoyed this album. Honestly Green, when I read 'The sounds [...] very close to the Ayreon style' I feared it would be the usual pastiche of genres that relies heavily on appearance. Instead, there is good solidity both in the concept and in the tracks (and between the tracks). My favorite (for now): "Set Your Controls" - Great review, as always.
David Bowie Station To Station
Voto:
An excellent album this "Station To Station," created by Bowie during a difficult period in his career. The first electronic hints typical of the 'Berlin Trilogy' (which would start the following year) begin to emerge, but at the same time, the echoes of the sound from "Young Americans" and "Diamond Dogs" have not faded. The mixture of these two tendencies produces an album that, although transitional, is definitely valuable: the title track, "TVC15," and "Stay" are absolute masterpieces in my opinion!

@PI-AIROT: Personally, I don't find the new singer too bad. One downside is undoubtedly his desire to be a clone of Anderson (a bit like the current singer of Journey in relation to the historic Steve Perry). Perhaps the choice of a different voice would have been more appreciated. - Honestly, on the other hand, I really hope they don't take the new-age Andersonian route (in my opinion, his solo albums, with a few rare exceptions, are unbearable rubbish)... Instead, a hard turn would be welcome: if a new "Drama" were to come out, for example, I would be over the moon!
