Phil Collins Hits
Voto:
A non-trivial greatest hits that is finally well thought out. A journey through the lightness and harmonies of a special singer (think of "Another Day in Paradise") and, at times, a bit too sentimental and sugary. Nevertheless, an artist who should not be forgotten. Marco Poletti Dixit.
Marco Masini Masini
Voto:
He goes to Sanremo. He wins (easily though, he had no competition) and sings a decent little song written with his loyal Beppe Dati, "L'uomo volante." Completely rejuvenated, he also hits a couple of high-charting tracks: sure, he's not Battisti, but it's also true that he's done worse. And, in the end, he's never done better. Marco Poletti Dixit.
Marco Masini Il giardino delle api
Voto:
We are now at the point of absurdity. The album is pathetic, and Masini, above all, sings really badly. And to think that the previous "Masini" (2004), beyond prejudices and critical-musical talibanism, wasn't that terrible. But this "Il giardino delle api" is on par with "Malinconoia" (1991) and "Il cielo della vergine," which means it's among his worst moments. Marco Poletti Dixit.
Angelo Branduardi Branduardi canta Yeats
Voto:
Errata corrige: not the Yeats, but Yeats. Lately, I don't even know what I'm writing myself. Marco Poletti Dixit.
Lucio Battisti L'apparenza
Voto:
Appearances can be deceiving. And it's not just a saying. An interesting album, chock-full of musical inventions that are often quite classical, yet slightly inferior (especially in the lyrics) to the subsequent "La sposa occidentale" (1990). Marco Poletti Dixit.
Lucio Battisti La sposa occidentale
Voto:
I fully agree with what Simone Caronno has written (and considered). You have perfectly captured the complexity of this curious and quite unusual album. Marco Poletti Dixit.
Lucio Battisti La batteria, il contrabbasso, eccetera
Voto:
There’s "Ancora tu," but the album is only somewhat convincing. The desire to mix Italian style with USA style becomes an excuse to study and reinvent new avant-garde musical types. Half of the album is sublime, while the other half has holes in it everywhere. It sold a lot, but qualitatively it leaves one perplexed. Marco Poletti Dixit.
Lucio Battisti Io Tu Noi Tutti
Voto:
Battisti upends pop and blends it with the techno dance vibes of American club music. The result is tenacious, though not entirely successful: nevertheless, the riffs and catchy tunes are abundant and do not disappoint. "Sì viaggiare" and "Questione di cellule" make all of Italy sing, while "Amarsi un pò" reshapes the boundaries of the very strict musical meter. Marco Poletti Dixit.
Lucio Battisti Il Mio Canto Libero
Voto:
Great expressive freedom and a series of songs that have entered history. One of the peaks of the Mogol-Battisti duo, and yet, despite tracks like "Confusione," "La luce dell'est," and the very delicate "Il mio canto libero," the spontaneity and genuineness that made "Emozioni" an absolute masterpiece are lacking. Marco Poletti Dixit.
