Calling itself the "Ministry for Equal Opportunities," it feels somewhat odd to see how every single initiative promoted by this body is always "thought of and designed" for women. Of the 1,450 work-related deaths (94% of which are male) that occur each year in Italy, no one seems to care. Of the roughly 7 men who commit suicide every day in Italy, no one seems to be concerned, not even with the most ridiculous informational flyers telling these young men to be strong and not to "fall into that trap." Of the men who, following a separation, end up on the streets without a penny and join the growing ranks of the homeless (a phenomenon almost exclusively male), no one seems to care. The fact that, on average, men live 6 years less than women and retire 5 years later is of no concern to anyone. The fact that men receive harsher sentences for the same crime compared to women does not seem to concern anyone. The shameful laws that discriminate against fathers after separation, tearing them away from their children, the home they live in, money, and turning them into second-class citizens seems to be of no concern. The shameful anti-male bullying that all media outlets are steeped in does not seem to concern anyone.
