Sorry, but do you know that this album is 14 years old? Beautiful album.

What a beautiful cover... Curious, but would I understand anything? Are the lyrics "translated" in the booklet? I'm also drawn to it because I know he is a lover of Dylan Thomas.

I, as already mentioned, am not well acquainted with much of Macca's "solo" work. I know he has composed some "cultured" pieces. However, when I think of the highest musical peaks in terms of creativity, certain works of Brian Wilson come to mind, such as some tracks from Smile (the central section that goes from Wonderful, through Song for Children, and ends with Surf's Up). I don't think Macca has ever reached those levels, although perhaps he was more innovative and modern with certain things from the Beatles. I can assure you that it is sublime music, highly cultured, and extremely evocative. The only flaw, perhaps, is its excessive complexity and refinement (harmonic, melodic, rhythmic, vocal; just try Surf's Up to believe it) for a pop work.

So, I bought it and listened to it twice at 48x. Judgment: there’s indeed a lovely British atmosphere throughout the CD. I find it pleasant and moving. And here lies the problem. Do I like it because I consider it a valuable album or because it reminds me of childhood days from many years ago, cradled by the sound of "My Love" by Wings? I have no idea. I don't know what Macca has produced lately (I haven't followed him much), so I can’t fully assess it and I won’t make any rash statements. Finally, I want to emphasize that it seems to me there’s quite a bit of déjà vu in the CD. As if he took back the fruits of the seeds he sowed with the Beatles.

I think I’ll buy this album because it intrigues me, and I’ll prefer it over the Nordic melodies of Sigur Ros. However, from what I've heard on Allmusic, English Tea seems like "Si, Agenore, lo so. E tanto torto non ti dò.." aka "Tutti insiem lo denunciam" by Edoardo Bennato....Give it a try, to believe...

A great album (music and lyrics), ruined by an honestly superficial review, You can do more.
