"When music was a vehicle to spend days with friends and you weren't mentally masturbating thinking 'but which bands have made the history of progressive?'. How right you are, Marco; you've hit the nail on the head with what I often think as well. To put it in my own words, sometimes it feels like while the music I listened to once was the soundtrack of my life, now it sometimes seems that life itself is the 'existential' column of the music I listen to..."

Thank you The Punisher, on behalf of myself and the FL. Coming from someone who usually throws shade, a positive review means even more. See you soon.

It's true, I re-read it. Wow, you write so well...

The reason I have never written a review of classical works (for instance, I would like to review Ravel's Pavane Pour un Enfant Morut or the piano concerto I mentioned earlier) aligns exactly with what K is talking about. So I really think it is sincere.

If I had forgotten for a moment that I’ve known this album for over twenty years, you would have given me an insane urge to run and buy it (clearly on vinyl) spending one of my good 10,000 lire a week from my grandmother.

Beautiful album. I used to think, like many, that the greatest source of inspiration for Marillion was Genesis. In truth, I no longer believe that's the case. In fact, apart from Fish's singing style, they were much more inspired by Peter Hammill's Van Der Graaf Generator in this album and the subsequent ones (their music is, in my opinion, more "twisted" and "cerebral" than that of Genesis and therefore closer to that of Van Der Graaf). I think the cover art of this album actually features the image of Fool's Mate by Hammill.

Perhaps this album was the beginning of the end for the Battisti-Mogol duo. The one in which he reached the peak of pop musicality. There are still some great songs, although, on reflection, they are a bit too sugary. In my opinion, the experimental Battisti struggled a lot in achieving this.
