Very very beautiful and interesting. Every time I read things about Matisse, I think of that hyper-shimmering page on Dance in Tropic of Cancer by H. Miller. I'll come back to this in a moment and start using the links ;-)
James Cameron Avatar

Well, I haven’t seen the movie and it’s not certain that I will, but the review (which manages to be spoilerish even in its brevity) seems a bit simplistic to me. Of course, you can’t expect Bergman-like plots from James Titanic Cameron, but cinema is primarily watched with the eyes, and I doubt that Avatar will fall short of the pure pleasure of viewing. In short, certain things are known, and the discerning viewer chooses the film for themselves; the options are not lacking. There’s a lot of beautiful cinema out there, and if we start boycotting poor films, there will be even more of it.

You've made me want to see it again. At the time, I searched for the lake on Google Earth, and the beauty is that I found it! I remember 2 or 3 scenes of unbelievable power, like the superb finale of la Primavera.

You may not be a poser (or maybe you are, but then what is a poser, and above all, who isn't one? Now those are serious topics), I was saying I don't know if you are a poser or not, and I would never dream of ridiculing you for it. Rather, I would categorize you in the far more ignominious de-gender "tagger," and I would wish you immediate soul-searching. It is indeed never too late to start over and rise to new life. A record I reluctantly listened to long ago, just looking at the cover gives me embarrassing regurgitations. Burp. Nevertheless, I will be generous with the grades.

I used to think the same way, but then one day a Morricone CD started playing during a game, and since then we haven't been able to live without it. Looking into each other's eyes with a challenge, with a nice dish in the center and Il Buono, il Brutto, il Cattivo in the background is priceless.

Recently used as a background for a poker game, I expected more. By the way, shall we open a discussion about poker music? For me, Morricone rules...
Ethan e Joel Coen A Serious Man

Let’s say the ending, that is, the last minute, is truly a hymn to not wanting to understand anything (just like the ash that gets lost in the wind in The Big Lebowski). More than understanding, their job is to scatter seeds, and these two emblematic touches (the ash blown by the wind, the swirling vortex on the horizon) throw you out of the theater with a creative disorder typical of the Coen brothers. For example, are we really convinced it’s an anti-metaphysical story? I see a tragic representation of the human tendency to miss the substance of spiritual matters, lingering instead on formalities, and in that "comfort" of the soul that, indeed, always comes in handy (the dentist, the rabbis, the woman from the opening). In short, it's a film that swirls, indeed, I spent 4 euros, blessed.

mmmmhh.. I really found it to be a great film, and I would place it very high in the Coen filmography. Extremely tight, ultra-ferocious, funny, intelligent, and extraordinarily acted. @47, it’s true the first 5 minutes are a gem, and I was quite impressed by the ending as well. 4 and a half stars.
