Pantera Vulgar Display Of Power
Voto:
Correct deduction Bartleboom, although I was also referring to the legendary Zoe, from whom I've unfortunately been absent for a few months. I don’t understand all this fuss over the statements of the good Fidia; I was just a kid when "Walk" by Pantera first came out, and I have to say that Pantera, with their tight and rhythmic sound, certainly contributed to the creation of that fringe of metalheads (then nu-metalheads) who, due to certain tough and gritty attitudes, might make someone smile. But the same argument can be made for all those branches of metal that become a sort of way of life for their followers (like black metal or glam, for example).

Come on, the Jets are definitely below Wolfmother and The Strokes, please!! They are epigones shamelessly copying the rock of the '60s and '70s, I mean shamelessly. Making a parallel with Italian music, they can be related to the vibrations.

Well, it's not that they totally ignore them; it seems to me they even played at a Brand New concert, and sometimes their videos get played.

I also find the review too enthusiastic; it feels like a telemarketing pitch (the best album, the best guitarist, the only decent metal of the '90s that boasts numerous attempts at imitation). Moreover, I find the sound of Pantera on this album too cold and artificial; in this regard, it's much more of a mishmash than Far Beyond Driven (which I actually have on vinyl with the legendary cover featuring the drilling). And that fucking RE-SPECT - WALK! I've seen it too many times danced to by grumpy, tough-guy teenagers in Milanese rock clubs, and it's definitely pissed me off.

The Gwar... when I listened to them years ago, I thought: what idiots, and if this review hadn’t come out, I would never have remembered them again. But it’s incredible how stereotypical rock (or heavy metal) played in costume always works; now I see there are these Lordi around who dress up like fantasy monsters and they're even having success. Oh well...

I was wrong indeed! Anyway, even 4 is a bit too much, come on.

Beautiful album, I almost forgot about it :-) The only one by Royal Hunt that caught my attention in the good old days.
