Dream Theater Metropolis Pt. 2: Scenes From a Memory

The Dt seem like a cover band of Deep Purple or those kinds of groups: the technique is the same as those bands, only more pompous and more repetitive and boring. The difference with Porcupine is that Porcupine started as a band that paid tribute to Pink Floyd, but then grew to become themselves. They have their own quirks, in the sense that they are original and have character: Dream Theater are ANYONE, the singer's voice is ANYONE, and they seem like a bad version of Deep Purple, only much more bland, lacking the famous grit that characterizes the DP. Deadwing by Porcupine is incredibly original, it’s not boring and feels almost like a concept album: the DT just copied Deep Purple, without putting the grit, passion, and strength into their music that the DP infused.

Well, something by Evanescence isn't too bad... Surely the latest one is the most commercial they've made: the earlier ones are better, in my opinion.

And don't say that there are no more original bands: nowadays everyone is inspired by the greats, but the difference is that the dt DO NOT HAVE THEIR OWN STYLE; THEIR OWN TECHNIQUE; THEIR OWN ORIGINALITY, a particular vocal timbre, like other bands do. For example, Porcupine Tree: they draw from Pink Floyd, but they are not the same in the way they play, sing, and compose as the Pinks, right?!

If you don't ask me, how can I know you want to know them?! Don't worry, I don't follow the trend of having a beef with the dt; I have a beef with the dt because they seem like vain robots whose only purpose is to showcase their technical skill without conveying passion. And without creativity... I listened to this (some time ago, but I recall that I didn't like it) and then, more recently, I listened to Images and Words...

The poetic cover contrasts with the violence and rage of the growl: these are the things I love! It reminds me, for example, of Dark Lunacy, a band that alternates growled vocals with a violin orchestra. Divine!!!

No, clash is right: it's pointless to say that rap "isn't music," because, like it or not, rap is A MUSIC GENRE. And this time, no to the trash and counters, you’ve found a bone too hard for you: the reviewer is right, you irritated him, insulted him, and gave him a 1 just because he reviewed an album you don’t like. I don’t like the album either, and I might disagree with some things: but it seems wrong to treat any person who reviews mondo marcio or fabri fibra like an idiot…
